We made it!!

We got into Vegas around 1300 today I think. Hard to tell exactly as we have blown through 2 time zones and Sunday we will have to move the clocks back AGAIN.. This is an awesome place. From the ranges on top of the hill we can look down on the strip about 10 miles away and there are actually stars out here in the desert. We went to a local sub shop for dinner tonight and then to a yogurt place for dessert. I asked Betsy if she wanted to eat her dessert in the desert and she hit me..

Anyway we are here and will do a bit of sight seeing over the weekend and start work on Monday. We have to get hearing tests and blood tests then we have to go to the county center and get our employee badges. Funny thing is when we crossed into Nevada from Arizona the sign said welcome to Clark County. This is one damn big county.

Make sure you see The Valley of Fire. Do it in early morning or at dusk for the best effect.

Glad to know you made it safely. We'll be in the Vegas area in January and will stop by and say hi. We have never been to the range, do they have a skeet field?

Dean, they have skeet/trap/sporting clays/ archery/rifle ranges/pistol ranges. Go to Bing Maps, find N.Decatur Blvd and follow it north out of town. Then click on the arrow next to "Bird's Eye" and chose aerial. then zoom in on the facility. Don't chose Bird's eye though, those pics havent been updated in 4 yrs, and the facility is only 3 yrs old. The 30 orange rectangles you see are the volunteer host RV site canopies. Each site has a 70x30 canopy. Above the Host facility you will see a very long (right to left) facility. Zoom in on that and that is the skeet/trap range. There are 24 stations and right below them are 80 FHU sites for visiting shooter"s RVs. It is unbelievable.. Google Clark County Shooting Complex and read about it. The sporting clay range should be open by Dec...

Clark County!?!? Isn't that where the Pawn Stars, Rick the Restorer and Danny from Kounts Kustoms are all from? What kind of work will you be doing there?

We will find out tomorrow, could be range cleanup on Monday and Tuesday or Line Safety Officer, or other maintenance. 15 hrs each per wk for the site. 7.5 on Monday and 7.5 on Tuesday, then off for the week, I can handle that..

Thanks Dave for all the info on the range. I am excited and can't wait to check it out. Now I will get busy and load up a 1000 rounds of skeet/trap loads. Looking forward to seeing you guys in January.

Dave,
If you want an adventure in the desert, drive over to China Ranch and have a milk shake. You may have to ask a few people to get directions since it is not known by everyone, but i promise you and the wife will love the trip.

Randy
PS me if you can't find directions from some local.
