Alternative Fuel

Some of you may have already switched your generators to propane. Just wanted to give a link here to U.S. Carburation in case anyone has been thinking of converting their units and did not know where to go for the kit. I have converted my home standby generator and two of my friends generators with amazing success. We currently do not have a generator for our Montana, but if we do in the future, the first thing I will do is convert it. The advantage, you already have 60 lbs of propane on board, it doesn't go bad, and you don't have to keep checking the fuel level. Plus, it runs as good if not better on propane.

Guess I'll stay with my old gasoline Onan. I can get Gasoline anywhere I travel. I believe most small generators are down graded when running Propane (at least the 4000 Onan is only a 3600). Guess for home use and not running the engine for several months at a time then Propane would be okay. JMHO

Been there done that to my home Generac 7550 and you do lose power when loaded. My neighbor experienced power loss as well.

Have the home generators been converted to natural gas or propane? I know there is some power loss with natural gas but have not experienced a loss with propane.

If I remember right power loss on propane is 10%
