question about axles and tires

I am new to this forum and am experiencing my own problems with what replacement tires to use on my 06 3400rl. I am kind of concerned about the 6000lb axles on our rig. Are they really big enough for the load? Can't really go and look to see if they are dexter,6500lb. or not. Rig is in shop being fixed from a blow out. Do know that I have mor ryde suspension. Wanting to go with bigger tires than e load rateing, but only alternative in 16" rims would be the gy g614. These don't seem to have the best reptution for reliabilty. Was wondering if anyone knows if I could go with the 17.5" rims and the gy g114 with these axles.

It all depends on how heavily you load the rig. We are very heavily loaded and kept tearing up tires from bent axles (6,000 lb axles). We had them swapped out for the Dexter 7,000 lb axles with the heavier (you get a choice) tube and the 7,000 lb springs. Nary a problem with tires since.

We're still using the original size tires in load range E. Sorry I can't help on the tire questions.

We had our 3500RL weighed at the recent rally and the weight on both axles was 400lbs below the limit (in other words 800 lbs total), assuming that our axles are 6000lb. Not as much leeway as I would like, but 7,000 axles might be over kill.
