I'd definitely give it a try. I just wonder if you would still need to wrap it with insulation like you do normal hoses? If it worked as stated and didn't break for at least a couple of years it would be totally worth it to me.

Michael, at least they have the same price in both Potable (FDA approved) "heated water line" and "heated utility line".
Now I don't know too many places where you have a water supply and electrical outlet close together, so whats the price for an extension cord from them? Just kidding.

I would have paid the $189 in a heart beat when I owned our kennel. Sure beats walking the water out of hoses every day after cleaning the kennel. I wonder if they make a hose that isn't 50' long. If I needed a hose for the RV I sure wouldn't want one that was 50' long. Also where would you plug it into if you were using it for the Montana? Not all RV parks have the 15 amp plug in at the pole.
Thanks for the link, might still look into it for our fish pond that has to have water added when we are gone. It is on a self timer, but that wouldn't work if the water hose was frozen.

I sent an email to them asking about a 25' hose, which I would be interested in. As for the electrical supply, an extension cord to one of the OEM outlets on our Montanas, if not available at the pedestal, would work.
blamb, I, too, wonder about having to wrap in insulation.

Not a bad idea! Now just to figure out how to keep the city line from freezing from the faucet into the ground would be the next challenge!

From their description, I would not think further insulation would be necessary. I would want a 25' hose rather than a 50'. The hose that I made up with heat tape and then insulated, ended up costing less than
$50 for everything.
It has been below freezing for four nights in a row here in central Texas and is 24 degrees as I write. The heat tape is doing the job. The thermostat causes the tape to come on at 38 degrees and shut off at 45.
The real advantage of using the Pirit Hose is that it is made up if you are not handy. It also looks as if it would roll up and store easier than the one I use.

Colleen,
Don't you have a 15-20 amp plug on the outside of your rig? That's what we plug our hose heater into when there is none available at the CG post.

I configured mine with the plug on the opposite end, near the RV. My extension cord is relatively short, about 10'. I just use the outside receptacle. There is an led light in the cord head on both the extension and the heat tape to let me know at a glance whether I have power to the hose.

I was wondering if it had any type of warranty. I did not see it on the web site. I did email and ask. If it does I am going to ask if they would give a discount on multiple orders as we are in Moses Lake WA at an RV park full of construction workers and I know most would be interested.
Thanks for the info!

Let us know what they say about a discount.
Stiles, I agree that it might be easier to roll up. We typicially try to stay away from cold areas, but then you kow what happens...

Try a 5 gallon pail turned upside down over the spigot and pole, if the pole is separate from the electrical. Most CG's keep the spigot close to the ground, so even wrapping one of those camping thermal blankets around it should keep it from freezing.
Of course, I just prefer to move South to warmer weather.

Unfortunately, they will only make 50' lengths.

Well, did anyone find out if it still needs to be wrapped in insulation? If not, then the long length isn't such a problem, it's just a matter of finding someplace to stuff the extra hose. If it does still need to be wrapped for RV use, I don't know that it'd be worth wrapping 50 feet of hose, the 25 feet about did me in as it was lol. (Then again I didn't have assistance, it would have been much easier to have someone hold it straight and such while I wrapped it.)

This would certainly solve my problem. But, since I'm about 350 feet from the pump house, it isn't an option for me...

Unfortunately I can't get closer to the pump house. There are no open sites around it. They have season siter trailers on them which means they stay on the site year 'round. I'm on a concrete slab up by the front so I can keep an eye on things. I contacted the company and as previously stated by someone, they only come in 50' lengths at this point in time, and each one would have to be plugged into a separate outlet otherwise the ampage would be too high. Thats what they tell me anyway. So, today is the day I'm going to try running the garden hoses from the pump house to my trailer and try to fill my fresh water tank. I'm just concerned that at 22 degrees, the hoses will start freezing up before I can get everything set to go. This is one of those occasions I wish I had another person with me...LOL

Here is another heated hose that looks good. They have lengths ranging from 15 feet to 100 feet.
