propane bottle

Does anyone know if it is alright to lay a tall propane bottle down in the front compartment of our unit?

Thanks

You did not say if the bottle is empty or full or what size the bottle is. I would be concerned about what the extra weight added to your overall pin weight.

I carry an extra 30lb bottle in my front compartment. I'm not that concerned about the extra weight since I already have two 12 volt D8 Lifeline batteries in there that weigh 150lbs each.

I wouldn't lay it down if it contains propane although there will be many who will tell you that because of the new valves there wouldn't be any problem. But why take the chance?

I don't know about the new valves, but I saw photos of a car that had a bottle laying on it's side in the trunk. When the gas warmed up and started relieving pressure, the relief froze up. The cylinder exploded demolishing the car. The photo was at my propane dealer. He advised me to never lay a bottle on it's side. I would seek the advice of a propane dealer on this issue.

I have been told to never lay down a full tank as it could explode in a accident

Some bottles are meant to be used laying on their sides.

Why not just get a bottle that is designed for a motorhome. I understand that they are always laid on their side. Should not be a problem them. Of course, if you then stand it up....
