Yesterday we got gas in my car - $1.85. Noticed diesel price - $2.29. Wow what a difference. Hope trucks that take diesel get super milage.

We don't get squat pulling or not pulling. Spend a lot of time "filling" up. But, Chuck has to have Chevies.

Diesel dropped to 2.24 in some places here, central NY, still not like it was in April, at 1.75
As for mileage, my truck is still not fully broken in, so I am still between 10-12 mpg driving, and the same for towing, it will be getting better tough, there are days now that I am gettin around 16 MPG

Carol, Gotta get it broke in. When we first got our Chevy with the Duramax our mileage was terrible. Lucky to get 9 mpg when towing and maybe 17 when not towing. Now that we have over 55,000 miles on it the MPG has increased considerably.
Unlike gas engines diesels, just like women and fine wine, actually improve with age.

Carol, hate to say it but big gas engines are notoriously thirsty. When we had the Ford V10 we averaged 8.2 towing and solo got 11 in town, 13-14 on the highway on a good day. The diesel does about 40 percent better, or at least the previous one did. Haven't towed with this one yet but solo it was doing even better than the prior one. Until they went to winter diesel, that is. Then we dropped about 2 mpg all around. Tuesday we'll hit the road so will see how it does towing. Like Glenn said, the previous one improved dramatically when it hit around 30k miles. This one has 6,700 so isn't even close to being broken in yet.

I bought diesel for $1.74 on I-81 on 01 Jan 05. Also, saw regular gasoline for $1.65. I could not believe it. It was at a Shell station too. It brought back great ideas of days gone by.

BTW, my Ford is broken in about as good as it is going to get with 108K mile on it. I do good to get 12 pulling the new 3400 RL. That is only about .5 MPG less than the other the 03 rig. At any rate, with all the tinkering I have done to boost HP from the only Powerstroke, I am not complaining too much.

Jan 7, Perry, Ga, I-75 exit 136, Flash Foods station, I paid $1.729 for diesel. All the other stations around here are 1.799 and up. This station has truck diesel pump lanes and seems to do a good volume.

Here in Southern NH the local Mobil station had a price of 2.09 for the past Month or so. The price Just took a Jump to 2.13 this past week.
I don't understand when fuel $/barrell goes up the prices imediately reflect it. But when $/barrell goes down it takes a long / long time if ever for the consumer to see the results as reported on the nightly news.
