A Goodbye and help pricing my 2955

Friends,
Don't know if I informed you all, but Georgia passed away in May of this year from lung cancer.
We have really enjoyed our 2005 Montana 2955RLS since we purchased it in 2007. Now I need to downsize as I really don't need all that room, or so many vehicles. The expense of rebuilding the side of the trailer every time a brand new F rated tire blows has really gotten to me also. 3 on the last 500 mile trip.
The Dodge 2500 pulls her like a dream but she is getting a little long in the tooth for my planned trip to AK next year. The 1/2 ton Chevy I pull my classic Airstream with only has 70,000 on it, new tires on the whole rig and a tad bit better mileage.
So, enough rambling, I am trying to decide whether to leave the solar panels, controller and inverter in the Monty and buy new for the AS or transfer them over. When I tell people here in the south I have 400 watts of solar and 4 GC batteries, the first question out of their mouth is "Will it run the AC?" Then they look at me like, "Why have it?" when I say no. Every campground here has electric, even NFS, if they didn't they would have no customers for all but 2 months a year. Boy, am I missing the NW this summer.
I really don't think I can get the money back I have in the solar setup here in the south. I am going to make someone a heck of a deal for the truck and trailer, and will post it here first.
Any opinions?
Sorry to say "So long", we used our Montana to the fullest to almost finish our bucket list, maybe too many memories in her for me.
As the song says "Live like you were dying"!!!

When the situation required me to sell my Big Sky, I contacted two consignment sellers, Camping World was one and PPL in Houston was the other. I was not satisfied with their offer and decided to sell it myself. I had put it on MOC and forgot about it.

When I got to really detailing it for sale, to my surprise, I got a call from a member with a friend who was interested. I had done a significant number of good upgrades and priced them into the rig. I was paid my asking price because it was reasonable although not cheap.

I can't tell you what to do, but that was my experience. I also believe in prayer, because God knows my plight whatever it my be. His help and guidance over the years has been of inestimable value.

Sorry to hear of your loss but we can take comfort that she’s in a better place.
The Air Streams are a very nice and well-built unit. I don’t think you will have any regrets.

Thank you all for the kind words and caring.
Stiles, encouraging news, I figured most here had newer rigs, but forgot about their friends and relatives with "Montana Envy". I am in no hurry to sell anything, got to finish transferring everything over, and detail both. Tags and insurance are paid for the next year, so I have time.

Bill and Donna, Wow your Dodge has twice the miles mine does, maybe I should trust the old girl more.

Ozz, I think I will miss your posts the most, you are like me in that you can't leave well enough alone. Hopefully we can meet up still somewhere, I'd love to see your rig.

I'll see you when I see you.

You could also try offering it on RV Dreams. Some of the folks on that may be interested in a rig that is ready for some boondocking.

So very sorry for your loss. I agree on leaving the solar on the Monty. Someone will want a rig set up to boondock.

An additional thought, some folks here have sold their units on Craig's list, however, great care should be given to avoid being robbed or scammed. Shysters pray on Craig's list. That said, others have reported quick and satisfactory results.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your wife.

Wish you luck in selling your 5th wheel. I'm sure with all that you have on it, the Monty will go quickly to some lucky person.

Tom, Sorry for your loss. Georgia is now resting in peace.
I have the same 2005 2955RL. I purchased it in March of this year at CampingWorld in California for $18,000 out the door. Mine was lightly used and in excellent condition. It was listed for $33K.

Blessings, Russ

Thanks all,
Nice to know I was in the ballpark on price.
It will be easier to just order new panels and controller,I already have another large inverter that should be enough for the SOB. Already ordered the LED lights, the switches for the lights were actually getting hot the 6 1151 bulbs in each fixture draw so much current.
Happy trails.

I used Craigslist selling some other brand and also a truck. No problem but if someone responds telling you they will pay your price and are sending a representative with a cashiers check. Don't fall for it. Demand the buyer come in person either with cash or you go with them to the bank and have it cashed before you do any paperwork. if you deposit the check it will often times bounce a day or so later.

Good advice to everyone trying to sell anything. Cashiers checks seem to be scams often for the bad people.

I sell used A/C units on Craig's list, along with things I haven't used in the past 5 years or so, the first 5 or so responses I get are from goofballs that want something, or above-noted scam scum. You do have to be careful, but it is free and it does work.
I think it would be good for your efforts to sell, when we were looking for a used unit, a couple of dealers told us we would have no luck, as used Montana's sell as soon as they hit the market.
Good luck, and keep us posted.
