Power awning problem

Just got to Florida for the winter and went to put the awning out on our 2011 324RLQ and it went out obout 3' and stopped. Would not go in or out so I got on the ladder and with a little help the motor rolled it back in. Can hear a click at the motor but does not want to move the awning with out help. Any ideas or does this mean the motor is shot warranty just ran out in august. Has anyone replaced one and if so does it just a un-bolt and replace job?

The Keystone 1 year warranty may be up but if that's a Dometic power awning, you should have 3 years coverage.

Hi. Haven't had a problem with our unit, but you might want to read the instructions. It is VERY specific about what to do if the motor fails. The big warning is....if you try to remove the motor, "things will come apart" and you will have to take it to the shop to get another motor installed. I guess it's somewhat like a garage door spring, if it comes loose, things go "zing" all over. Plus, it's the motor that holds it in place, without it, the awning may not stay rolled up. Try an outside power source to run the motor and see what happens.

I am assuming that you have checked the fuse panel on your rig?? You will have to press the awning button while checking the fuses to see if an indicator light comes on. May be a simple fix.

Have checked voltage all the way from the battery to the where the wires plug into the motor on the awning tube and have 13.5 volts when switch is pressed but still only get a clicking sound from what sounds like inside the awning tube. Will not even try to move the awning out with out helping it by hand. Will retract the last 2' on its own. Called Dometic and they say they hardly ever have a motor problem and say it has a 2 year warranty which I'am with in.

If I call a mobile repair service and pay the service charge will they replace the motor under warran or will I have to haul to a dealer to get this fixed? Hate the thought of hauling out after we are all set up for the winter.

I would call Dometic and explain you issue. I though I had a issue while in Buena Vista, Colorado and called them and they gave me the name or a RV repair service and was told to call them? After more discussion it was determined I had no issue.. Good Luck.. Happy Trails...
