And there are so many variables in between those.....regular cab, double cab, crew cab, 2WD, 4WD, , short bed, long bed, dually, SRW, 18" or 20" wheels, diesel, gas.

True many variables. I just purchased a 2021 GMC SLT, 2500HD, Crew cab, 4x4. I'm very satisfied with my choice. This is our 4th 2500 HD, we have also had 5 3500HDs dually, never owned a 3500 SRW. Everyone has a choice. Do the research.
Happy Trails.

I heard a rumor that the new Chevy trucks are programmed from the factory to only put out 7 volts to the trailer which doesn’t do to much for charging the trailer battery. Don’t know if this is true or not. Has anyone else heard this?

The rated payload capacity is more likely the limiting factor than the listed towing weight. Payload rating can vary significantly depending on cab, bed length, engine, 4x4 vs 4x2, etc. Gotta look at those ratings for any truck of interest.

If anyone is looking for a truck to tow with thinking these numbers are accurate will likely leave them disappointed. There is more to the equation than advertised best case scenarios.

True. Often tow rating is irrelevant it's the payload that is the limiting factor. That's what puts so many 250/2500 trucks over weight...they can't carry the pin weight and stay within limits.

I just bought a new 2021 GMC Denali w/duramax. My Furrion cameras that worked on my 2018 GMC do not work with the new truck. from what I understand, GMC regulated the voltage to the running light, that is why my cameras don't work.

Wouldn't that be an issue for just normal trailer lights? I wouldn't think LEDs would light at too low a voltage - someone else mentioned 7 volts. Seems like incandescent would barely glow at that voltage.

On my 2020 GMC 3500 I have to turn the lights auto on off for my camera to work..... Something you might try
