Do batteries die uncharged?

I (stupidly) left my rigs two marine deep cycle batteries uncharged for over a year. Now I can’t seem to be able to charge them. Are they toast? Should I take them to a battery shop to recharge?

Probably, but I'd take them to an auto shop and get them tested.

Yes, being uncharged for long periods, especially in freezing can be the death knoll for batteries. Sometimes if your lucky they can be revived with a low amp (2 amps or so) slow charge. If they can't be revived then you will want to replace at least one of them before you sell it. I don't think replacing both will net you one extra penny over just one.
