LED Tail Lights

I just noticed I lost my round right tail light len's. May be a good time to change over to LED. Anyone do this change over. If so where did you purchase them.

I replaced my tail lights a couple years ago and bought them on line from somewhere overseas. probably China. Ensure you get an accurate measurement of the diameter of the hole the light sits in. I also found out when I was wiring them, that the Chinese color coding is not the same as ours. Ground, or neutral for them is black. Check with a meter when you wire them up, op-test prior to mounting.

I just replaced mine a week ago. eTrailer was the company and Command Electronics was the brand name I chose for my LED tail lights. Because led's are polarity sensitive, I found a few post here on wiring diagrams and that helped. Good luck.

As the backup iights are worthless (and something we never use) consider replacing them with additional brake lights. Much more visible during the day and night.

A few years ago (maybe 10) the left rear light bulb was out on our 2007 3400RL and it bothered me a lot that anyone behind me could not see me turn signal. I promptly replaced the bulb but decided that 4 lights at the back of the trailer, 2 each side, would be much better. Bought 2 - 4" round LED lights that I installed in the back of the trailer in addition to the existing ones. I had to drill a 4" hole for the light and had room beside the exiting tail light. they look good and it gives me assurance that if one bulb burns out, at least I have one that (hopefully) works and those behind me will see my signal.

I don't remember where i bought the lights but they are readily available and not very expensive (my opinion).

I replaced my round backup lights and brake lights with LED lights, I when to a truck supply store and purchase new LED lights with rubber grommets and new pig tails. I think they were 4" lights, the wiring was very simple, hook up your truck and plug it in, and use a troubleshooting light to check the wire for the brake and parking light. I replace the backup lights with brake lights. Now I have four brake lights on the rear and boy they are bright.
My camper is a 2013 3582RL hooked to a Ford F-350.

I changed all the outside lights to led. So much brighter and they use less power. Small red lights for the back and yellow for the front. Easy swap and like others have said. After hooking up the wires check that the light works if not switch the wires and re check. I bought like others here, 4 inch round led lights for the back. I also opted to remove my back up lights and note have 4 round tail lights. Much brighter and they work well. My clearance lights say SMD technology. I like them. Little squares and no bulbs involved. Real bright and really mark out the trailer. Rear tail lights have many led s in them and are super. Won’t miss me breaking or turning now

I didn't lose a lens but the heat from the brake light melted a hole in the center of the lens. I ordered LED replacements from etrailer.com. The lights are part number STL42RB and the wiring pigtails are part number A45PB. I did have to do a slight enlargement of the hole in the fiberglass end cap so that the new light fit properly. These lights work well, are highly visible and, at least with my TV, there is no hyper flash. Easy installation.

I replaced ours and the so called back up lights from M4products. The owner Steve has been the best to work with. He gives MOC owners a discount. So far I’ve purchased about 75 bulbs and lights from him and they’re definitely better quality.

I bought my tail lights from either O'reilly or Napa. I had to use a dremmel tool to slightly enlarge the holes. As others have said, get rid of the useless back-up lights by just wiring the 2 tail-lights together. If anyone were to rearend your rv at just 10 or 15mph you would be heading home for an extended stay at a repair shop. You can't have to much lighting at the rear and if one tail-light burns out then you can keep on going till in a place to replace the defective one though these leds will probably out last the rv.

I have 2 lights on either side, so I changed out the reverse lights in back too, I just made both lights red LED lights.

I changed our taillights out, followed shortly by all of the marker lights. I used Maxxima lights for all of them. I was going to replace the 2 white lights in the rear with red blinker/brake, but when the parts store ordered them, they ordered 2 whites instead. The whites were more expensive, but they just gave them to me at the red cost I had paid. Much brighter all the way around now.

Yes the addition of LED tail lights is a good think. I especially like that you like me, added marker lights that are led. Will help you to be seen much easier and in a storm or on the road in normal weather you’ll have the best chance of standing out and being seen by everyone else on the road. I even have a switch so when in a campground I can turn on some led lights outside the camper to locate it or just to be seen while walking around.

Thanks for the tips & product information. I made the upgrade to LED tail lights and reverse lights. Very happy with the outcome. Clearance lights are next.

I found buying LED lights complete ready to go worked better than just switching a bulb. They last longer and appear brighter. I think the new LED lights are a great upgrade for safety and for visibility

I considered changing the backup lights and clearance lights but they are so seldom in use that I decided to save the money. The brake light upgrade was essential since the heat from the original bulb units had melted holes in the red lens.
