RV Montana Dealer that Got it Right

KUDO's to the dealer that I purchased my 2012 Montana 5ver from that seen the logic and validity to honor a repair where the Keystone warranty representative wouldn't. Read my update from last week where Keystone denied claim. http://www.montanaowners.com/forums/...ad.php?t=54272

The RV dealer service manager is handling my claim. They charged me for the initial service call to repack the wheel bearings and the brakes where replaced for no charge. The service manager adamantly agreed that the issue was auto adjusters over adjusting , plus a wheel bearing seal failed. My intention of this post is acknowledge that a service manager knew what was right and understood my frustration with Keystone and the circumstances of 1 day past the warranty period was valid because the dealer was closed and I returned to town on the day the warranty expired. Customer satisfaction at the highest and my next new RV purchase may not be a Montana but it will be from this dealer and all future service and parts will be thru them as well. It's the principle of the matter that counts, I wasn't out to hose Keystone, it's about doing the right thing.

Can you tell us who the dealer is. Sounds like someone many of us would like to do business with if we're in the area.

Curtis Trailers Portland Oregon. They have two locations in the greater Portland area. My business dealings have been at the Eastside location and this is where I purchased the Montana, along with a few thousand dollars in parts and accessories within the last year. Wife and I are already thinking of a upgrade from the our 326 Mountaineer, not that its a bad model, but we have a different floor plan we like that will be a considerable cost upgrade. Curtis might lose their claim over a 500.00 brake issue with the manufacturer, but rest assured they will make thousands more from the purchase of my next RV.

Hi

That is a fresh breeze. You normally find that kind of integrity at repair facilities that don’t sell new units.

If those are Dexter axels did any one contact Dexter? Unlike Keystone Dexter is a company with integrity.

Excellent! It appears that your dealer and mine have the same attitude toward their customers. Mine is Northgate RV, Ringgold, GA. Billy Yates, owner.

They are very good people there. The founder of the company actually designed, built, and sold small 15' travel trailers in the '50s, and he was inducted into the RV Hall of Fame in 1998.

http://www.rvmhhalloffame.org/pages/...sult2.cfm?ID=2

They also had a wagon museum up on the hill above the eastside dealership, but I think it has been closed and moved now.

I graduated high school with his daughter Carly Curtis, and I think that she now runs the place.

Yes they are Dexter Axles with ALKO Brakes. I've had a warranty claim with Dexter on my boat trailer with a failed hydraulic brake cylinder and Dexter replaced the brake shoes and the wheel cylinder and there were no questions asked.

Do you know if anyone has asked Dexter about your problem?

Dexter was very good to us. They initially over greased the axle and contaminated 3 of the 4 brakes. They contacted CW and arranged to have the work done at no cost to me. Brakes work great now and all is well.

Maybe it is worth making a 5 star dealer list if one doesn't already exist. I would have appreciated this when paying big $$$$ for my Montana. My dealer sucked big time and lives at the other end of the scale.

Absolutely agree with the opinion of Curtis Trailers in Portland (and Hillsboro). We are on our third trailer (second Montana) and they have been absolutely the best to deal with. Right from the top down through the parts department to the service department. They make you feel like family. We deal with the one out west, in the Hillsboro area. Everybody is just great. I know the Curtis daughter who runs the show now, and she is great. Her son runs the west side store and he's great too. The museum that was mentioned is now closed. They needed the room to expand their east side operation. Most of the equipment has been sold or donated. In keeping with their community support, Curtis donated all the old horse drawn buggies in the museum to Antique Powerland museum, in Brooks, OR. HUGE donation. Anyway, Curtis is great, and I for one will continue to go there for all my needs!
