Montana 3400RL
Okay boys and girls, I'm new to this, but looks like a great place to get info. I just looked at a Montana 3400RL today and the wife fell in love again. What I'm looking for is any feedback on the fifth wheel that any of you might have. I've just purchased a 2007 Chevy 3500HD with the Duramax 6.6 diesel, so I believe I've got enought truck to pull with. Thanks

As you can see from the signature below, I got a hunch that everything you selected will work together very well. Not sure where the hunch originated, but I will tell you that the Duramax will pull the 3400 without a hiccup!! Have been in the eastern (WV) mountains to the beaches at 100 degrees without a problem. I will say if you plan on being in hot weather anywhere, go ahead and have the second a/c installed if it is not included. Good choices and good luck if that is what you decide. On edit: AND a hearty welcome to the best rv forum on the net!!!!

Pulling is important but just as important is stopping. The 3500HD should have no trouble in either department.

Reread your post again, and still not sure what you are looking for? Trailer info on other than the 3400?

I think your wife has good taste in 5th wheels. We are partial though and the 3400 meets our needs quite well. The Montana is a nice unit to pull and the 3500 with d/a won't even know its back there.

The 3500 will do a great job with any of the Montana's. If the 3400 is the floor plan you like go for it. We are on our second Montana and have not had any problem with either.

Welcome to the "best darned forum on the www!" My wife and I love our 3400. We have added things to it to personalize it, but I think eveyone does that. Two of my better investments have been a 12 ton bottle jack (had two flats that I replaced) and a portable ice maker. We also added; 2nd AC, Slide toppers, window awnings, domed sat TV Ant, 32" LCD HD TV with Yamaha reeiver and Bose speakers, Shur-flo ceiling fan in BR, extra ac plug in BR, shelf for CPAP machine, return air filter under stairs, shoe compartments around bed, bed topper, Stained glass door window, extra shelf in WD cabinet (do not have WD) and having JT strong arm stabilizers installed today. Of course, we are full timers so need our eccentricities. I did have one of the recliners break so just threw it out and only use one, more room that way......

Check the number of us with 3400s...the best selling 5th wheel in the USA (at least that's what my dealer told me earlier today)...that should tell you what we think of them.

Wanted to thank all of you that replied back to me on the Montana 3400RL. Just wanted to get an idea whether the salesperson was just handing me a line. Sounds as if it's the fifth wheel it's all cracked up to be.

I just wish you could get to the living room area without having to open the slide(s). We like our 3400. No modifications yet, but I have a lifetime of retirement to take care of that.

Not sure what the problem is Waynem, all you have to do is get a running start from the bedroom, launch yourself off of the bottom step rearward, dive headfirst while sliding along the island bar (be sure to miss the faucet, that can be painful)and lo and behold you have instant living room access!!!!! Getting back out is a little more complicated however................
Bingo
I will flag myself for being off-topic, but the original question was answered in a manner that reminded me something about louvered taligates, WHEEEEWWWWWWWW!!

I'll see if I can get the DW to test that method.
Thanks.

DW reminded me about the ladies before gentlemen creed, but somehow I can visualize a gentleman's head thumping in the near future. Now, back on-topic, Ettajoe keep us informed as to the status of the 3400!!

The 3400 is a great fulltimers 5th wheel. We have lived in ours since July 20, 2006. Not sure if it is the ideal model of Montana if you are looking for a weekender, or for a Montana that get into more remote locations - though even the smaller Montanas are fairly large for this. However, you simply cannot beat the value and bang for the dollar that these units have.
Also, I would put the Montana Owners forum up against any other source of critical information on a specific RV brand anywhere in the world... PERIOD! And this goes for Keystone/Montana support, that they bend over backward to make sure we get . Even some out of warranty repairs done for free - unheard of in this day and age.
We have not been sorry for our choice - we spent one full year on this forum before we actually took possession of our new 3400 - and I bet you will not be either.

Hello from Journeyon,
We purchased a 3400rl several months ago and love it. Have camped about 5 times and no major problems. Biggest problem was self inflicted head bumps on the basement area!! Great trailer though.
Lots of storage space and plenty of room. Very easy to pull and you have plenty of truck to pull it. We have a F250 super duty King Ranch
short bed with a V10 engine and have no problems at all. We looked for about a year and a half at every trailer out there and kept coming back to the Montana 3400rl. Very happy with our selection.
This is a great forum with very knowlegable people who can answer any question you have. They were a big help to us in our search. Good luck in your search, just don't pay that high sticker price. There are good deals and dealers out there. Mark up at most places are
20% plus.
