Dave & Cheryl,
Nice to have you back! Looks like you are really enjoying the Monty & D/A. As you gain travel experiences, you will soon become a lot more comfortable with your TV and will realize how awesome the towing combination package is. Great pics. Can't wait to see pics of the inside. Hope to see you soon in our travels.

Dave and Cheryl, congrats on the new rigs. Just got back from a great trip of 255 miles to our favorite campgroung in Salmon, Idaho. We have the same set up that you have, 3400RL and D/A and we just love ours. We have 102,000 miles on the PU and it runs better that when we bought it. It pulls the 3400 as if it were not on the back. Great Combination. You try all of the combinations of speed, OD and etc. with your TV and then decide what is best for you. I could tell you what works for me, but it may not work for you. Enjoy your time with each other and see the things that you want.

Dave & Cheryl,
Congrats on your new home!! I am sure you are going to have many great memories ahead of you. I run w/ OD and tow haul on as well. Once out on the flats, I usually turn the tow haul mode off and run in OD. If the tranny starts hunting between gears I will turn the tow haul back on. I found I get my best mpg at 65-68mph which runs around 1900 rpms. 70mph will hit the 2k mark on the tach. Enjoy that new coach!!!

Thanks, everyone! I was really pleased with the way the 2500 GMC pulled this 5th wheel. I have pulled trailers/boats before where the tv struggled on even slight grades. This combination was GREAT! There was a little chucking - I have a Reese 16K hitch. However, I have had much worse, and I was not expecting the ride to be as smooth as it was. The new Reese I have has side to side pivot as well as the front to back. I wasn't aware that the standard Reese comes like that. This is my first experience with a 5ver hitch, though.

Dave and Cheryl congrats on your new toy sounds like your really getting into it I have the same hitch no problems with it one thing you need to look at is the track that your front sliding mirrors slide in just had three of the screws fall out and got a little lucky the right door fell down to the floor but no damage so take a quick look and make sure yours is tight it really looks bad when you open your trailer and see this one just got lucky a saw before sliding out the sliders and getting it caught

Congratulations both of you. I can't wait to see your pictures and see your posts about your new home. I know that you put a lot of hard work and tons of research into buying your TV and your Montana. It has finally paid off. Wishing you many happy days in your Monty.

Dsprik, or anyone else with this situation...

I saw in another post your 3400RL has the black cabinet handles, hinges, and shower frame, and probably some other things. We toured a new 3400 today to answer some more of our questions about that model. This is the first time we've seen the black. I'm not sure I care much for it. And I'm not sure we could easily swap it out since even the shower stall frame is all black. What on earth are they thinking? I am a bit disappointed about this.

My question... what do you all think of the black hardware? Am I just being old fashioned?

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

Steve,
I had not heard they changed the gold to black. Did you happen to get any pictures of this change??

No Dave, we didn't take our camera. Thought about it, then forgot it. If we go again, we'll try to remember to take the camera ... and then try to remember to post a picture or two.

We saw the burnshed black in Dave(dsprik) new 3400.It was the only thing different between our May 06 and his July 07 3400. It jumped right out at me when I walked into the camper. It is different. My first impression was..I like it..then when I walked back in mine ..maybe not.. They maybe could have left the shower stall burnished bronze..I never saw a black shower stall frame.

That would be a shock, Steve, and I can't quite picture it. It's probably something you'll get used to.
