Oh my..... I guess I am older than dirt maybe even older than rocks!!! how about buying 25 cents worth of gas while out with friends as it was all you could scrape up between all of you, and you got over a gal of gas?? I can remember washing diapers (the real ones) on a washboard because we didn't have a washing machine. How about hay rides on a wagon pulled by horses. Making baby formula with canned milk, Karo syrup and water, and our babies grew just fine, and the list can go on and on!!!!!

In 1949 my Dad took me downtown to a hotel to show me something amazing..Television..WDTV, later KDKA Tv the Du Mont network In Pittsburgh, Pa among the first broadcasting Tv stations in the country had gone on the air..The picture was snowy and it was a chorus line of ladies dancing. We stood outside because the TV was in the bar and Dad would not take me inside.Dad bought one of the first TV's in town..A RCA, round screen in a beautiful cabinet.Pittsburgh was 50 miles away and he had a 30 Ft antenna installed on the roof of our two story home, Guy wires everywhere but we got a great picture.TV was only on a few hours a day.As I remember it came on with the news at 6Pm and went off the air at 11PM Our house would fill up at 6Pm to watch the news. They would sign on with the National anthem and everyone in the living room would stand while it was being played.. Oh so long ago...

I did not think I was old as dirt but I think I must be even older. I remember all but about 4 or 5 of the things mentioned. I also remember the 32 volt electric system we had (windcharger and batteries, and engine in case the wind didn't blow) I don't know if I should admit it but I lived in a sod house my granfather built until I was 6 years old.
