trend or not?
Noticed on this trip that we are seeing trailers with multiple families in them. Can't imagine two couples with kids, dogs, etc in one unit...but there you have it. At winchester bay, the twenty something travel trailer next to us had grand parents, a couple and their two boys, and three dogs. Nice people, but really... Is this what is happening across the country...more people getting into rv'ing and loading them with people to see what it's all about? Very interesting development, if true. John

Noticed the same thing too while near Salt Fork State Park in Ohio. The folk across from us had 2 kids, parents and grand parents in about a 25' travel trailer. Next to us was about the same except they were in about a 32' fifth wheel. How do these folks fit in their trucks ? There was also 5 or 6 folks staying in a very small class c motorhome. God bless these folks for taking extended families RVing. More power to them.
It's just the wife and I roaming around our 41.5' fifth wheel.
Sometimes that's too small.

We often travel with multiple generations. That's why we decided to get the Monty now rather than wait for retirement..two fold out queen beds. Grandkids get older quickly. We have our 34 yo daughter 32 yo old son and 2 grandkids with us this week. All in the Monty. At retirement our oldest grandchild will be 19. Making memories together now. Have done the Smokies twice, Key West at Christmas, now Amish County in Lancaster PA. Also do multi generation annual long weekends near Nashville. When it's really crowded (10 to 14 of us), Ill rent a trailer or popup for the kids and/or grandkids.
Making memories...spending time together.

We have from time to time had kids and grandkids come to visit us. Sleeping arrangements can get interesting (since we took the couch out), but it's fun for everyone.

It's wonderful when a family can spend time together outside having fun getting to know each other in a different environment.

We replaced the hide-a-bed couch with a a love seat with no bed!! This was in part due to someone always thinking they should be able to use it. Once in awhile is OK but..... We like the 642 rule, six for cocktails, 4 for dinner, and two for sleeping.

I am not seeing this as new. In fact, I've noticed it for the last 50 years or so. My own parents bought a little 18 foot TT right after I went in the service in 1968, and went camping in it with the 5 siblings who were still living at home! (Glad I was not there!) We often shudder at how little room there must be in some of our neighbor's rigs when 12 people and several pets close the door for the night! But, more power to them if everyone has a great time. And they don't come knocking to borrow an extra bed!

Growing up we had the 17 ft Rainbow that's in the blog in my signature. Dad, Mom and four kids. And we loved it because we didn't know any different. I can't imagine adding Grandma and Grandpa into that mix, but I have fond memories of meeting them at camp in their trailer. And we can't wait until our brand new 3-day old grandson is old enough to join us in the Monty!

After the wife's sister died, we took the young niece and nephew all through the western us over three summers to expose them to what we have in this great country. That was about as much as I wanted to share the rv. John

We haven't done the bunking in together thing but we do have a family campout every year. The kids
mostly grew up camping starting when there were 5 - the oldest 9 and the youngest then 9mos. Since
then we have added 2 more to the group and now also have 12 grandkids and 2 greats. All that are able
to come have their own rigs or tents and we spend 3 or 4 days together. One big potluck on Sat. and
the other meals on your own. We even had the two married grandkids join us last year.
Unfortunately, due to many reasons, this year there will just be our oldest son & his wife and us.
Think we've even had 3 or 4 dogs in the group too. Lots of fun!

Big Sky, not sure about John, but we were there back in April for a few days. We assume that you've made the trip down to North Bend to the "Pancake Mill" restaurant for breakfast?? Another good place is "Don's Main Street Café" in Reedsport! We've been to both MANY times!!!

Hold on now, I wouldn't call it a "trend" in RV'ing to have more than one family in a coach.
Speaking for myself, we've invited our grown children along many times to enjoy a short trip with us and save some serious money by staying with us for a few night instead of a motel somewhere. Most times, we are alone
.
I would hate to think someone is misconstruing this weekend together with our kids and grandkids as some kind of "trend".
It's no different in my mind than having kids drop in on us in a brick and stick home and spend a few days. We appreciate the few days we get with our grandkids!
