We have a ’06 3400RL and like the openness of the bath bedroom area to solve the privacy issue the wife went to Ikea and got a wire curtain rod and I secured it on the wall next to the shower and bedroom slide and over to the corner of the wall by the bathroom toilet door and sink. She made some fabric curtain that can be used to separate the shower area from the bedroom and the pocket door on the other side so guest can shower and have privacy. Added bonus, the curtain keep out a lot of the sun light in the morning so we can sleep later.

I will add my two cents too. This is our second Montana. We previously had another 5th wheel that had the bathroom inclosed. It took up a lot of space in the bedroom. We like the openess of the Montanas. What we do like in the new one is the extra storage for coats and drawer space. We also can use the whole RV while the slides are closed. That was the problem with our old one. We too are retired military (AF and Army) and also retired from the govt. We travel quite a bit and the Montana has been good to us. Consider SMART (Special Military Active Retired Travel Club). They are having a annual Rally in Clearbrook Golf and RV resort in Clearmont FL on Apr 26-30,2006.

I like the bathroom the way it is. If it was all in one room, I could , but would not want to take a shower, or brush my teeth, wash my hands while someone is using the toilet. The only other better solution would be to have 2 bathrooms.

Hi Jim & Denyse!! So far, we have not had any issues with the bathroom set up in our 2006 3000RK. We have a sliding door to upstairs and the divider to the bedroom, so you can sort of regulate your privacy there in the bathroom. We've had company stay out on the sofa bed, and it's worked out well when we closed the bedroom off - that way everyone has some privacy during the night. Take your time looking and choose the one that fits your style and what you'll be doing. Like John & Donna pointed out, there will be different floor plans by the time you're ready to buy. Good Luck!

Thanks, Dave! Thanks, Glenn!

Might be a little small for us for FT. I wish it had one more slide.

Hi everyone... We're currently researching 5th wheels. I'm retired USAF and will retire from my current (2nd) career in about 7 years. We hope to do lots of research and jump in with a purchase in 4-5 years with plans to fulltime when I retire. So far we're impressed with the Montanas. We like everything about them except one thing... the bathroom sink/vanity is in the bedroom. Have Montanas always been this way? For those of you who own this setup, how has it been to live with? Thanks for all the great information on this site... you all really seem to be a happy family. Cheers! Jim & Denyse
Our 2003 model has bathroom vanity/sink in the bathroom area rather than the bedroom area. It also has sliding double wood doors to close off the bedroom from the bathroom. I can shave in the morning without waking Vicki. We mourned the loss of this separation in the newer models and it's one of the things that have kept us from seriously considering trading our 2003 for a newer one. Just our opinion. I guess it depends on how you use it. If we were weekenders/vacationers we wouldn't likely worry about it. Living in it every day this kind of thing becomes much more annoying to us.

Steve, you're the first to say that you really don't like the vanity-bedroom setup. You mention the one thing that first came to my mind with that setup. Waking up one's spouse while trying to get ready to go somewhere (work?) was my first concern, but no one, up to you, has mentioned this as a negative.

I am in total agreement with Steve and Vicki, and for some of the same reasons. We too, have been reluctant to trade for one of the later models for this very reason.

This is just to correct any impression that Steve is in any minority. In fact, this subject has been discussed at great length on this forum [in several different threads] and there are many who feel as we and the Reigles do.

We are with Steve and David, we like the sink over in the bath area, and not in the bedroom area.

We have an 04 model 2955RL and it DID have 2 sliding wooden doors between the bed and bath. Notice I said "DID have". As we NEVER have any sleep overs (Entertains 8, Feeds 4, SLEEPS 2) and to provide more space to make the bed we decided to remove both doors. In a year and a half we haven't regretted that decision.
On mornings when I can't sleep I'm downstairs in sweat pants and a T shirt sitting at this 'puter or out on the patio with my morning coffee. I do my shaving, etc when Lorraine wakes up.

I think Glenn's post goes to show there are different needs for different folks. We do have granddaughters sleepover and sometimes when were here in Independence I'll get up early to go visit my folks (120 miles from here) and need to be there in time to visit before taking them to lunch. I try to shave and get ready to go without waking Vicki. So for us it's important. For others it isn't.
