Slide Racks

Looked thru the Lippert manual and didn't see anything about lubing the gears. Mine have some rust on them.. but,, the question is.. should they be lubed? Manual says to lube the hydraulic arm(s) w/ silicone spray every week or so if extended for long periods.. mine isn't and probably won't be.

So the question boils down to the rack and gear. as well as the slide tubes. I may be over thinking this.. but, my only concern might be grime buildup on the moving parts.

What says the brain trust here?

I use a dry lube annually on the gears beneath the hydraulic slides to keep the noise level down.

Thanks Bingo.. Actually, after I posted the message I had the brilliant idea of calling Lippert. They suggested nothing.. unless a dry lube.. I don't know if that would get into the bearings/bushings.. or if that's even necessary... As for the rest.. due to grime attraction.. they recommended against lubes. I think I have some dry lube around.. Teflon or similar.

It's important that the gears turn, but other wise, the racks are just to make sure the slides go out and retract straight, so lube on the gear or rack teeth isn't needed.

I also use the dry lube on the gears whenever I do the tubes.
