Toilet repairs replaced seals
Dometic Sealand model# 210
Been putting it off, worked with my Plumber/Pipefitter father enough to hate working on toilets...

I've rebuilt two of them. It's a crappy job. I have one leaking down slowly now, but I'm just pouring in vegetable oil now and then. When this finally fails, it'll be the third for me.

I've done that a couple times. Let me say this too, go ahead and buy the Dometic brand seal. I tried saving a few bucks and buying a knock off on Ebay....just like always, came back to bite me in the butt.
I added the Thetford toilet riser recently. Man, that thing is sure nice for us old folks!

Thanks Ozzie! As Nosticks said "a crappy job" (pun?), but it's good for us newbies to know how to do it when the time comes. Now that I'm not drawing salary from the store anymore the plan of buying a new trailer whenever a major repair is needed is out of the question.

Thomas Crapper would be amazed at the new toilets, especially the water miser models.
BTW we have a great member of the MOC from Minnesota named Ozzie, I am just plain ole Ozz

Just called Dometic at the number on the picture of the instruction sheet. Even though my unit is out of warranty, she will send me a new seal kit without charge. The original seal was not effective. This new kit is a different pair of seals. I had to ask her if it was a purchased replacement or would she send one to me. If you don't ask, you don't get.

Good job!
Yep, you have to ask for the order...
You probably saved upwards of $60.00 on that one. I always knew you were a smart cookie!

Did anyone consider putting a shut-off valve on the potty incoming water line? The run might be too short, but maybe if there is an "L" ball valve, it might work. If it were there, it would be better than having to turn off the water to the whole rig.

Sorry! Didn't even realize I did that. Freaking out with getting everything ready to go next week. Before the Rally we'd never camped longer than four days and then back to the store. The rally gave us a look at almost two weeks. Now we're going for a month and 3/4, leaving in the winter. Wake up every night thinking of something else to do. Won't sleep well until we're on the road and what's done is done. I suppose admitting to being anal fits on this thread

I did, BUT that is just one more place for a leak. and a guy wouldn't have to use it too often anyway.
I figure that job would throw my back out also...

Thanks Ozz, Like Stiles I need to order my repair kit. Great photo's on the step by step procedure. They will be a great help. Know you and Sue are having a gret time on your winter jont but winter just hit KC this morning. Just a dusting but cold temps. Suppose to warm up soon. Guessed it right by not leaving this winter but still miss the travel. Jim

Ozz, Linda facebooks but I do not. There is getting to be so many of these social sites I always worry I'll forget how to be socialble. We have had a mild winter but as you know it ain't over until late March if not early April. We'll have to get together when you and Sue return to KC. Jim

Roger on that. Maybe I can drag you over to the Corner Cafe in Riverside for a home-style treat.
