Best Place to Order Hydraulic Cylinder
I need to replace a hydraulic cylinder on our 2008 3400RL. Once I crawl under there and measure the defective cylinder, where is the best place to order its replacement?
I see that etrailer has them, but was just wondering if anyone has ordered them from anyplace else.
Some say to get it rebuilt at a local hydraulic shop. Has anyone done that? If so, what was the cost for that and does the rebuilt cylinder work okay?

Once again, Facebook won't allow us to look at the information. Probably because there are a bunch of FB Montana groups and you have to be a member of the right Group to see the Posts. If the hydraulic cylinder is for a slide out the ends of the unit are welded on and IMO you can't rebuild those...
If however your issue is with a LG or leveler then those can be rebuilt... the issue at hand will be finding the seals you need...
A good hydraulic shop will be able to rebuild the LG and leveler leg cylinders for less than $200 which is considerably less cost...
The info on the Montana FB group shows a LG leg torn apart and the inner seals, etc...
However... all that is USELESS because the OP has never taken the time to indicate the PN for each of the seals that were replaced...
Images attached are the seals inside a Lippert leveler leg... as shown on the FB page... the blue seal IS usually the culprit... the outer seal located on the bottom of the leveler and LG leg is merely a wiper seal and has no function in fluid and pressure retention

If I was faced with your situation I would go with ordering new from etrailer.com. I have purchased many things from them such as disc brake kits, fifth wheel hitches, etc and they have never let me down and are competitive on pricing.

Sorry, I wasn’t clear. It’s a hydraulic arm for a slide-out, not a leveling leg.

I have rebuilt them. You can get the measurements and try etrailer, ebay and surpluscenter.com. If the rods are not rusted and pitted, the best and probably cheapest is to get them rebuilt.

These are the short kitchen slide cylinder pics from my 2002 2880rl. I took the seals to a rubber distributor and paid a fee for them to ID the seals and sell me a new set. About $40 if I remember correctly.

2008 hydraulic slide out cylinder is most likely the style with welded ends on it.. if so its not gonna be repairable...

I got my new slideout cylinders on Amazon. They are Aluminum Lippert cylinders and worked great. Half the weight of the steel cylinders.
