Reese 18K Signature 5th Wheel Hitch

Would appreciate receiving input regarding the Reese 18K Signature 5th wheel hitch. What other hitch(s) would you recommend for use with a 3400 or 3500 RL.

We have a Drawtite - hubby likes it for it is railess, only have two pins to pull to remove from bed of truck, then four rubber plugs that fit in truck bed to cover holes, giving him a smooth truck bed for hauling, etc.

oldudbob,
look into the Pullrite line of hitches. Since you have a longbed you will not need a sliding hitch like the Superglide, but I really like the way Pullrite hitches work. They make a 15.5K - 25.5K with normal rails that stay in the bed full time and they also have rails that remove with four pins and as the drawtite will have a flush flat bed. Check this link and see what you think. www.PullRite.com

I guess in my opinion those mentioned above are all good hitches. The features differ somewhat so look at that and get the one you like best. One thing I'd recommend is to make sure you get the 4-way pivot. I did a search on "Reese 18K Signature" and it does have the 4-way pivot. I think the others probably do, too.

The 4-way pivot allows the hitch head to pivot side-to-side as well as fore-aft. That means less stress on the hitch area of the FW and on the hitch mountings in the truck. It also makes it easier to unhitch when the truck and FW are on different planes.
