Check for tree limbs.

Here is something to add to your checklist when packing up and getting slides in and ready for travel. If you have been set up under trees check on roof top of slide outs for fallen branches. We had a branch fall on top of one of our slide out and when we went to put the slide out in it jammed in between the side of the RV in the slide out and wouldn't let it close all the way. I had to get the ladder out and climb up on top and remove the limb before we could get the slide out to go in

Without slide toppers, if/when we are under trees, the ladder comes out every time prior to packing up, even if there are no leaves falling. Leaves, pine needles, and of course twigs and branches are not good for the slides and seals.

I don't have slide toppers. No matter where I am parked, under trees or not, I always walk my roof and sweep the tops of all my slide outs to make sure there is not even one leaf on them before retracting them. I will also wipe my slide tops down with a towel if their is any water or condensation on them. If you have a puddle of water sitting on your slide top you will soak your RV when you retract it. What ever is on top of your side will end up in your RV...leafs, branches, water, bugs, dirt, etc...

We use a small leaf blower and a long handled mop. Slide toppers are clean before we retract.

Have a 36v Makita leaf blower (two 18v batteries). Get on the ladder and blow anything up there off. Works good once you realize the power you're dealing with. First time it almost blew me off the ladder

I got up one morning on Union Pass Wy and found 6 inches of snow on the ground in an almost white out. Our camper didn’t have a ladder on it and we don’t carry one. When is it going to quit snowing, how long will it stay on the ground? We have a steep mountain to get off of and snow is sticking to the gravel road. Now what to do. We got the snow off the slide as best we could and got out of there. I told my friend who lives in Dubios. He laughed and said the snow would be gone an a day or two. It was.
From up there you can’t call, no cell service. There is no TV on radio. You are on your own just like I like it but it can bite you in the butt.

We just returned from a week in central Texas, wedding in Dripping Springs then rest of time east of Fredericksberg. Good fun in the wine country. we were parked under a bunch of oak trees shedding big time acorns and small leaves from the elms. I felt highly compelled to get on the roof to sweep all the debris from the slides b4 Joy closed them. Always good to take a look b4 hitting the road. Had a few other issues will post later.

Even with slide toppers if we are parked under trees I check before bring in the slides we had one time a lime was on the kitchen slide topper you could not tell that from the ground! It would have poked a hole in the topper.

Were you by chance at Cottonwood RV Park? It is our favorite in Dripping.
