Just remember 'when seconds count, the police are only minutes away"

May be true in the Cities, but out in rural areas where the meth labs are the Sheriff will be there to take a report, but you better be prepared to deal with the problem. In our county, when only one officer is out, an excellent response time could be 30 minutes or more.

If me or mine were in fear of or in a deadly situation I would have no problem using deadly force. When I reached the age of 60 my mind set of the meaning Deadly Force and the fear of great bodily harm changed to a lower level. I know a young thug has more power than I do now and my chances of winning in a hand to hand situation are not good. With that thought in mine I would use a weapon much sooner now than I would have 20 years ago. There is also the chance of the bad guy taking my weapon and using it on me, that will not happen. By the way I am a retired peace officer with 30 years of duty and have seen many, many of these bad guys and read records of their deeds that you would not believe.

X3 with Frank. In addition, over the years, I had to take down a couple of guys high on drugs. I couldn't manage it then without help and I know for sure I couldn't do it now. Over the years I came to the realization that "I'm not the man I never was".

I love the reloading part. LOL. Me and you need to get together at some point!

Usually CCW'ing a glock 26 and pocket carrying another mag. I believe a good bolt action and an AR-15 should be standard issue for every American though.

So, what do you carry? I'm thinking about a Mossburg 500LEx9...
Hmmm....depends on what we are doing but normally my Kimber Ultra II .45, DW has her S&W Model 10 .38. If hiking in a remote area prone to larger wandering friends the ole S&W Model 29 .44 comes along for a hike. The abode is well fortified with a Rem 1187 12Ga.

Hopefully never have to use any of them except to practice to keep up the level of my proficiency but will not hesitate to protect my DW, myself or property!

And the fun part for me is I made all of the equipment. Check it out at http://www.harrellsprec.com my web site. If you are ever down this way, exit 137 on I81 in Virginia, stop in. If you need anything MOC members get a discount.

Ruger LCP with crimson trace laser is probably keeping me company most of the time.
Mossberg 500 JIC is becoming my choice for in the truck, Just because some states are picky, and
my CCW permit isn't recognized/honored everywhere.

My S&W M&P Shield.40 has weaned me off the Bersa Thunder .380 for daily carry. As others have said, God forbid that I should ever need it, but also it would be a great tragedy to not be able to defend Dianna and our home. I am too old to run and too weak to fight. All I can do is try to avoid confrontations even at the expense of my ego, but not at the expense of my life if I can help it.

Great tidbit of sarcasm. "When seconds count the police are only minutes away." I had rather give a report than be the statistical subject of one.

Depends on what I'm wearing, what I'm doing and where I am.
Usually a Ruger SR1911 45 auto, if in the woods a Ruger Stainless Speed Six 357 mag. At times a Moss.500 has been known to keep the rig company.

S&W .40 Shield, S&W M&P 45fs, S&W M&P 9c depending on the clothes I have on. I also have an 870 and a AR-15. Surely that is enough.

Depending on where I’m going and the time of year, this Noob will alternate between a S&W 9VE, Taurus 689 loaded with either 357 mag or 38 Special Glaser safety slugs. However, my constant CC companion is a Kel Tec P3AT .380 loaded with Federal Hydra Shok pills.

North American Arms Bulldog 22 Mag / 5 hollow points. Almost every step. It's not dangerous to anyone until he decides to do DW or me some harm.

Like Larry I have a NAA 22 Mag PUG on or near, but usually have a Khar P380 & S&W 9mm Shield as well. Then carry whatever goes with what I'm wearing.

The thing is that for 6 to 9 months of the year we are in shorts, polo shirt or tee shirt most of the time...Where would you conceal some of these big guns let alone any weapon?? If I tried to put the GI .45 in the pocket of my shorts they would fall down.

With cargo pocket jean shorts and a belt around my waist I can carry in a Inside the Waistband Holster or in my shorts pocket with my 40 Shield easily. I do so all the time. With a Sig 938 it would even be easier. Penty of folks carry hammerless 38 sunbbies this way as well. With a well designed IWB holster I can easily carry my M&P 9C as well with only shorts and a T shirt. I've done these things all summer. I wouldn't even bother carrying if it weren't for the fact "a cop is too heavy to carry around".

That's what my Ruger LCP 380 is for. The times when everything else is too big.
