Surge Guard 34750 Time Delay
Our metal shop where we store and plug in the Monty to 50 amp hookup was recently struck by lightening. It knocked out a security light on the shop front and knocked out our direct tv LNB, but all else seemed good. Now we are traveling through to Niagara and when we plugged in last night and again tonight the Surge Guard 34750 no longer has a time delay. When I plug it there is an immediate click sound with out delay and both lights showing lines 1 & 2 working and the green light showing everything is ok. So, is this a repairable item or do I just buy a new one or an EMS, or both?

Sounds like the lightening cooked the time delay circuit. The problem you face now is if there is a quick drop of power and you AC is on, you won't have that delay for the compressor to stabilize before it trys to start up again. My guess, no repair. Sort of like a bed saver, once used, replace. Your call

Couldn't hurt to call the manufacturer and get their advice. If it is a Surge Guard by TRC their number is: (727)-535-0572.

Either way. contact the manufacturer to be sure, but most surge protection needs replacing after a severe incident like a lightning strike. The purpose is that it should be a cheaper fix than replacing all the electronics getting burned up. Maybe you can get a discount on the next one? It won't hurt to ask.

I am thinking that the time delay is a programmable function on the Progressive units. It defaults to a couple of minutes (136 seconds). There is also a selection for 15 seconds. You should be able to get a manual from their web-site that details the different configurations, I can't remember if it is jumper switches or what specifically determines the delay period, but it might be a quick fix. As others state, if that does not work give Progressive a call. Web site is www.progressiveindustries.net

Recumbent,
I looked up the information you have in your post, "Surge Guard 34750", and I am pretty certain the unit you have is manufactured by Technology Research Corporation (TRC) in Clearwater, Florida. Here is a link to the web page where I got the info: Surge Guard 34750. Also her is a link to the user's manual: Manual. There is a table on page 2 for what the indicator lights mean for different conditions.
I could not see anything on the Progressive Industries website that matched the model number you gave.
I could still be wrong, as I have been many times in the past and will be in the future . Good luck with resolving your issue.
r,
Jack
