Watch out for ice on Slideout Awnings...
Watch out for ice on your slideout awnings - we had rain and snow before and during the freeze and had a gust of wind blow a large chunk of ice off the living room slideout awning.
Luckily it only hit the picnic table and not the TV. It was over an inch thick in the middle.
Only broke some of my sea shell collection.

Ice on the slide awnings can be dangerous!! The day before I left the last campsite it had rained. I knew there was water on top of the awning, but I did not think it was cold enough to freeze.....wrong. I pulled the BR slide slightly and stopped it to let the water run off. What I heard sounded like glass breaking. The ice was about 1/4" thick and shattered when it hit the ground. Glad I was inside on the switch instead of outside as usual picking up and the wife running in the slide. Think that it could have hurt.

Thanks for the warning. I was thinking about that now that the weather has turned cold here on the east coast.
Cheers,

yea I found out the hard way also a few yrs back, was in Waynesville NC on thanksgiving, it had snowed then froze that night with some sleet. Had my motorcoach then, and took almost an hour to break the ice off the big slide before bringing it in. This was very thick!!

We've had ice fall off the slide toppers, too, like Charlie, but never when the slides were stationary. That is something we'll watch for next time we're in icy weather. Thanks for the post.
