DHenry has the key. The reason the Hunter works (also one other brand I can't remember) while other home thermostats don't is that it runs on batteries. Home thermostats require a different voltage than do RV thermostats. The battery-operated thermostat doesn't use house current so the problem is moot.
I know there's a setback Hunter where you can set the times for the temp to change, just like in a stick home. That one works and is the one I wanted but Walmart was out of those at the time. I assume this is the one you refer to.
