Recall for the RAM

I have been wondering for a long time sense the NHTSA open the topic on Air Bags sending unwanted metal parts into your body, I called up dodge and asked them and was told that my truck was not part of the recall. HA HA. I received in the mail today that it was part of the recall. R25/ NHTSA 15v-313
" 2004 thru 2009 dodge ram 1500/2500/3500 pickup trucks."
The problem: The driver airbag inflator housing in your vehicle may rupture, due to excessive internal pressure during normal airbag deployment events.
I now have an appointment this Tuesday at 0730 to fix the problem.
I love how the manufacture of our vehicles wait until they are forced to fix there problem, and if this company that makes these airbags has a problem with the steering wheel bag what about the other bags in my truck will they doe the same to my passenger or will that bag be ok. No reported deaths that we know of or were there?

There was a story on TV recently that the older replacement bags were also going to be recalled. Might want to ask and be sure their not putting in one of those.

In all fairness to Chysler, it was the AirBag manufacture that defended its product and repeatedly stated it's product was not defective. . They fought NTSB and Auto makers who used their products. Now it appears that manufacture will be in BK and forced to sell. Not like the old days when manufactured made their own components. Now all that stuff is outsourced and another layer of Red Tape is produced.

Dealer told me my truck is on the recall also but there is NO fix/replacement parts yet! He said there is no replacement parts for any of the recalled vehicles no matter what make or model it is.

Trailer Trash 2 if you get it fixed let us know how they did it.!

My 05 Ram got the recall notice earlier this year - Reason stated was the truck was sold in FL (High Humidity). Took it to my local Alabama dealer in Apr and they "fixed" it overnight. However the Horn Switch had deteriorated and was destroyed, but they failed to tell me. Realized the Horn wasn't working a week later and took it back. Fortunately they paid for it due to their failure to advise me. Who has ever heard of a Service Dept NOT letting you know SOMETHING else needed fixing? Was a first for me. Be sure to check your horn still works!

I received a recall notice from FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) about 2 weeks ago to have the Diesel fuel heater electrical connector replaced. Apparently it can overheat and cause a leak and possible resultant fire. (Safety Recall P65)

When I contacted the dealer they had none in stock and were ordering them in for this recall, no word yet when they will be in and when this will be replaced. It would be nice if they ensured they had parts available when these recall notices go out and were able to deal with the issue sooner rather than later. It will get fixed I am sure but have no idea when.

OK Scott I'll post what happened after tomorrow, I go in at 0730.
Michael I don't think that Dodge will get to BK (?)

On Edit:
I took the Ram in and asked if the bag that was being replaced was a bag from a earlier year, and the answer was no, that they are new bags from the manufacture, I also asked why Dodge told me my truck was not part of the official recall when I called almost 2 years ago when this was first brought to the publics attention. I was told because there were no parts in inventory to replace the bags, hum why didn't they tell me that instead of lying to me, that would have been a lot better to hear than a lie.
So that goes to show you Chrysler/Jeep are also LIERS just like the rest of the auto manufactures.

. Based on your post, don't think Chrysler lied to you. Your dealer lied to you

True on the dealer is lying, but the dealer is part of Chrysler, and as a franchise and does what HQ tells them to do. Its that way in any company.

I don't think it is very realistic to think the dealer and all their employees only say what comes from HQ. I managed a group of 140 people who all sat in the same meeting. An hour after the meeting at least one would have a different interpretation of what was said. That's just how human nature works. Jim

Yes the whisper game, we have all done once in our lifetime, tell a topic and see how it changes after 10 people have relayed it down the line.
I can recall several people killer things through out my few years of life, PINTO's burning up, SUV tires separating from the tires body, GM's Ignition switch, just to name a few. don't get me wrong I still like my Ram I don't like the manufactures politics when it come to my safety.
I have my new bag installed today, but it has to go back to the dealer to see why the check engine light is on now.
lots of time being used going back and forth to the dealer.

On Edit #2: just got back from the shop and the service writer stuck a module in the truck plug and was holding the tablet it paired up and put the codes and what they were problems it was the O2 sensor then all of a sudden the CK engine light went out on the Ram all ok now.
