One of the reasons I enjoy winter in Michigan

Out this morning with my brother and some good friends and caught dinner. It doesn't get any fresher than these.

They were delicious along with some slaw and fries.
Dave, we caught two or three while we were out, but of course had to put them back.

I'm glad somebody enjoys MI in the winter. The fish look good, but you can keep the fish, and I'll keep my southern address.

Enjoy the bluegills. I'm gonna stay hunkered down 'til the bass are spawning.

We are going to miss the Michigan summers with the Boston whaler in the slip and the cabin on Drummond Island and getting a days catch of walleye and the warm toasty fire at night. But life takes us down a new path and now its grouper or striped bass in the gulf and drinks at the wet bar after a day at the beach. But we have had many great memories of a lot of good times with friends and family, God bless them all.

If you are getting bad (or not good catfish) you are either in the wrong part of the country or in the wrong restaurant...or both. We spend part of the winter on the Gulf Coast where they are farm raised...and quite good.

Living in Manitoba, yep, I'd join you on the ice and at the table with that mess of gills and not complain about the cold! Enjoy what's left of the winter! I just cooked up a mess of walleye for the folks at work today. They were not as fresh as yours, but still good considering they were frozen last fall. Have to wait for fresh Lake of The Woods walleye a few more months. My high school sweetheart (started dating in 73) found a bean recipe a couple days ago that was a real hit with the group. I used a larger onion and substituted the bacon with real crumbled bacon bits (a lot of it ). Here's the link.

Than sounds delicious. Just like the chili simmering on the stove all day at camp.
