Spring Cleaning....

I mentioned in previous post about cleaning awning tops to eliminate mold. I created a comprehensive "list" of detail items to address at least once a year. Today I set the "minions" loose on the Montana. We started a complete detail job. Took all three Maxx air covers off and hand cleaned the fans and vents. Cleaning and caulking, and polishing everything on the outside.. Cleaned the undercarriage and running gear with power washer. Cleaned the awning toppers ( way over due ), scrubbed and treated roof, awnings. Tomorrow carpets and duct cleaning. New filters on air units and cleaning tops of cabs and everything in between. I write about this because it gives me that new RV feeling again. It's our goal to keep the fiver looking great, but once a year a complete detail sure adds to pride of owner ship! Monday in the shop for running gear inspection and necessary repairs and maintence. We should be ready for any adventure by next week.

Isn't spring cleaning just a great time of the year. Although we won't be getting started for perhaps another 3 weeks or so because of our colder climate I just can't wait to get started on the Spring List.

Such a great time of the year and it doesn't even feel like work.

Enjoy everyone!

Slide out cleaning went well. Guy knew what he was doing. Specilizes in RVs and awning cleaning. Funny thing, the slide awnings were more stained, on the bottom than on the tops. He said that happens when they get rolled up wet. That's also the reason the mold grows. Mold gone and awnings look new.

Michael- Come on out to Nebraska and I'll let you Spring Clean my unit. It's inside it's own home so you'll be out of the cold anyway!

I wanted to add a thought about my cleaning program. I was at CW today and saw the "RV Spa" price list. Vacuming coach was $37.00. The work my guys did this weekend was comparable to their "premium package". It would have cost $585.00 + ! At $13.00 hour and all supplies etc, $109.00 was my total cost, and that included awnings cleaned and treated, which CW wanted an extra $148.00. I understand profit and all the other cost factors, that said over $700.00 is a pretty heafty price to clean a fiver IMHO.
