I am going to construct a similar attachment for my pin box. Those hitches for the rear of the Monty are too pricey for me.

The E-Trailer class 4 hitch is a good hitch but is difficult to install. it took me 7 hours to install.
We have a 2012 3400RL
1. drop the rear stabilizer
2. drop the frame cover up to the rear axle.
3.Set the hitch brackets in place with C-clamps
4. determine amount of trimming is need to clear fresh water tank,
and trim brkts. with cut-off saw.
5. reset brkts and mark for pilot holes and drill 3 accessible holes.
4th frame hole is not accessible due to fresh water tank. Lower I-beam flange isn't wide enough 2 holes.
6.set cross tube into brackets, center and bolt to frame with 3 bolts.
7.weld lower inside frame flange to hitch brkt.
8.remount frame cover material and install stabilizer.
9.(Recommend a 1/4 inch spacer between stabilizer mount and frame to allow clearance on fresh water drain.

Very stable as we carry a black water tote, ladder and 12ft. inflatable boat. total weight of 320 lbs.

Doing this install of the bigger hitch was a test of my older body.
What I did in 6-7 hours I would have done in 2-3 hours 20 years ago.

Does anyone have pics with the bikes mounted to the front of the trucks? That sounds like something we could do. I thought about laying them on the bed but I think after reading all these posts that is risky. The ladder rack was my second choice and now not an option after learning from these posts. You guys have saved us again!!! The rack that hooks to our towing things sounds like a winner but I'd like to "see" it if anyone has some pics please.

See my picture for another option. I lean a six foot ladder against my truck and load them up. They are expensive bikes and weigh less than average bikes. under 30#s.. If interested they are Thule roof rack with unno bike holders.

What I do, is remove the front wheels and place the bikes in the basement, upside down. (Resting on their seats and handlebars) The wheels I lay on the bed on a blanket. They fit perfectly in there. I put one against the fore and one against the aft walls of the basement. The are secured to the walls with bungie cords to keep them from tipping.

We haul 4 bikes 2 regular 26" mountain , receiver on front of TV with bike rack , also 2" receiver hitch on back of Monty with two recumbent bikes on bike rack, WORKS GREAT...

I used to have a couple pics of my front mounted Bodiak with the bikes on a rack but I think I erased it. If you do some research you will see the Bodiak is the one that simply bolts on your front tow hooks (depending on what truck you have).

We have a 2014 Montana...which Keystone refused to include a hitch when we special ordered it. However, I really wanted a bike rack. Folsom Lake RV in Sacramento built a bike rack for us making the size of it the same size as the one on our truck. I then purchased a Yakima bike rack (which I highly recommend). Its a little more expensive, but it is built with great quality and sturdiness. By having both hitches the same size, we can remove the rack from our coach and place the bicycle rack on our truck for a day of bike riding.

you can always put a hitch on the back, with some modification, and also you can add a hitch on the front of your 5th wheel...i've seen a number of Canadians do this.

JandC we purchased a curt receiver hitch and bolted and welded it to the I-beams, and welded receiver tubes on each side of the Curt for use as stablizers/out rigger tubes when using a cargo box. We use a 14 inch extension receiver to get our Hitch Rider Double Trike Rack back behind the ladder. Our neighborhood machine shop did the work and he said not to carry over 500 lbs. on the receiver hitch. Our recumbent trikes weigh about 38 lbs each and the rack it's self weighs less than 70 lbs.

I copied what BB_TX did and mounted my bike rack to the pin box. I bought a cheap platform bike rack for $75 online. The rack was pretty flimsy so I welded on some reinforcements. I have a short bed chevy and it seems to work fine. Only towed it around the storage yard so far. Thanks BB_TX
