Knowing the height is pretty important so we can be sure to get under some of those low underpasses without disasters. All that presupposes that the posted heights for the underpasses are correct! We have the trucker's guide which let's you know about the problem spots. But guess what--there are two right here in our hometown which are NOT in the guide because the roads are not used by truckers. However they ARE on the way to one storage place which we had considered and then wrote off when we saw how high the bridges weren't. Know your numbers and plan ahead! HMMMM--that also applies to the 3400RL sticker price!

WOW, Montana Sky, where in the world can you get INSIDE storage for $2 per foot? We're in the Los Angeles area and out OUTDOOR storage for a 35' space is $150/mo. Now it does include camera security, dump site, and wash rack, but the inside storage there is over $300 for any space.

Reply to lasater: I seem to remember that the Olds 442 stood for 4-barrel carbureter, 4-speed transmission, 2 bucket seats, or, it's just a nice set of numbers!

I was told that the number was the length of the roof.
Only the big guy at Keystone knows for sure.

We measured ours recently, to the top of the air conditioner (no longer have the low profile, it was replaced), we now measure 12 foot 11 inches.

The Pennsyvania turnpike is limited to 13 foot 6 inches, any taller and you don't go!

Bowie, you are 100 % right, got to know how tall we are, or the top is gonna have tread marks on it! EWWWW!

Maybe the model # is related to the interior length, not the exterior length. Then again, maybe not! Just a thought.

I had asked 3 different folks at the plant, Jeff Rank being one of the 3, and not one new what 2955, 3255, 3400 , etc meant but they all knew the numbers didn't seem to have anything do with any measurement.

Let's try the 442 approach..
2 9 5 5 RL
2= 2 slides
9= 9 volt battery in smoke detector
5= 5 tires
5= 5 rims

OK That works for me and my 2955RL (RL meaning Rear Ladder)
Now you all with all them other numbers are on your own.

Regarding the 442...I've had 2 different brothers in law that had Olds 442s and both were`automatics so the second 4 is not 4 speed. Autos were 3 speeds in that day and manuals were 4.

The "442" in Olds 442 actually did stand for 4 bbl carb, 4 on the floor, and dual exhausts (the optional automatic notwithstanding!). The Olds Marketing Dept. just wanted to sell more cars so they allowed the auto tranny but kept the cool name. Olds 4AUTO2 just didn't cut it!

sales rep @ Sirpilla R/V told us the #s represented the sq. ft living space.

I had been told the same thing about the numbers last three numbers being how much sq' ft' you have in the coach. If that were to be true that means my 3400RL has 400sq' ft' of living space, and the 2955RL would have 955 sq' ft'. I am pretty sure that would not be the case. I think I like Glenn's method for the numbers.. =)

Wait a minute Montana Sky!!! Let me think about this.
First I find I have gained 2 feet 3 inches and now I have more than twice the of living space square feet than all the other Montanas???
But if that's the case I have one more question.

Where in h@%% is all that space??

Glenn,
I was asking myself that same question this past summer. By the time summer was over and I was ready to head home from the lake I thought to myself where did all that room and storage go?? Amazing how fast we fill them up anymore. I saw you were going to the rv show pretty soon, any floorplans you have your eye on to purchase?

Actually the RV show we have been talking about is not until mid January BUT I just found out there is a small RV show at the fairgrounds the weekend of Nov 13th. May have to go do some preliminary negotiating.

What floorplan? That's simple, for me it's the 3400RL but I think Lorraine has a different floor plan in mind. She is more interested in the 2955RL floor plan. In particular she's mostly interested our 2955RL.
In order for us to upgrade the salesman and finance people will have to come up with an offer we just cannot refuse and that will be a near impossible task. But you just never know.

Glenn,
I am starting to like you more and more.. =) First you have great taste in your tow vehicle. Second good choice in choosing a Montana. Third, great taste in floorplans. I have been so happy with my 3400RL, everytime I walk in I find myself with a smile from ear to ear. Good luck on your negotiating.

Why doesn't someone at Keystone who knows the answers respond?? It seems they never respond to these type of questions making them look very stupid and don't really care!!

Keystone's only involvement with this forum is they have people who read the posts. They do not participate nor do they run it or anything else. Your question is a good one, just thought I'd help to answer it.

I suppose someone could call Keystone or email them to see what's behind the model numbers.
