Matching Truck to 3650RK

We just purchased an 05 3650RK 5er and are now in pursuit of the tow vehicle. Is the 2003/04 Chevy/GMC 2500 HD Duramax SRW Crewcab capable or do I need to go 3500 and/or Dually? We Plan to use the truck as our primary vehicle when not towing. We will be traveling from Traverse City MI to Melbourne FL in October for the forseeable future (Winter). We reserved a lot in FL for Winter (except when we do some exploring across the country). Thanks in advance for your input!

I just picked up my 2005 3650RK on July 2nd. I have a 2002 Chevy Turbo Diesel 2500HD CC with Long bed and Allison Tranny. I have towed the new 5th wheel 250 miles already and it pulled like a breeze. I live in NE PA with the hills. No problem. Will be going to the Flint, MI area 2nd week of July to visit family and do not foresee any problems. Hope you will experience the same.

We also have to use the truck for day to day transportation as well as pulling the 5er. The 2004 GMC 2500HD with diesel and Allyson transmission CC SWB has been great for our 3650RL.

It seems to be getting about 16 MPG just around town. This is as good or better than our previous 1500.

We also went for the 4x4. Husband thought it looked better. That just seems like something a woman would have come up with. Since we are slightly vertically challenged, the step up bars are a life-saving option.

Good luck with the hunt.

We have a new 3400RL and pull with a GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4 Short box and Allison Trans. We have pulled about 6000 miles....Would not have anything else. Pulls like a dream. If you get a short box, make sure you look at the Pullrite Superslide hitch....It is well worth the $$.

We have a 2001 GMC 2500HD Longbed w/D-max &Allison tranny. Picked our 3295RK on June 17t. Went to NW Arkansas over the July 4th weekend, our first long trip. It pulled likea dream didn't notive much difference than pulling ou 26ft Prowler TT we traded.

Does take longer to get to interstate speed from a stand still but you won't get any better with a 3500 HD.

I also have the 2004 3400RL towed by a 2004 Chevy Silverado CC 4x4 SB Diesel and have found this to be more than enough truck for my coach. Have been 100% happy with it.
