Went to a Home Depot looking for the Magic Chef - MCIM30TS. They didn't have one and the computer showed as a "clearance" item. Got the fella to look around at other Home Depot stores and located one at one a few miles away. The clearance price is $147 and because I went to more than one store to find the item, I was offered a "Code 33" - customer satisfaction 10% discount. Not bad!
Making ice as I type.

Just paid $147 for the magic chef at Home Depot, says it makes 33 lbs every 24 hrs and can make ice in 7 minutes. Our rear kitchen mountaineer has a nice outside storage area on the awning side near the rear that looks like it was made for an ice maker. I wired a outlet in there and thats where it stays. Im in the process of making a slide out tray for the ice maker to ease draining and cleaning.Ive also got a nice bend a light fixture to mount in there for nightime cocktail needs. I think making the little modifications and improvements is half the fun, but in the process of these improvements Ive come to question the definition of "old world craftsmanship" LOL

Same as most of the posts here except I ran an outlet into the basement and leave it making my ice without having to move the machine.

Ya'all, on the Magic Chef, or the other 99 same as brands, sometimes it takes more than 7 minutes for the first batch of really good cubes, but once it gets going, it gets going. enjoy.....

Bummer, I just checked with our local stores and they still want the $199 price for that unit.
Stopped by the store today(4/30) and asked them to double check the price and low and behold it was supposed to be $147

Big Bob, ours doesn't store the ice. If you leave it in the tray, it will just melt back into the water well. Let us all know if you find one that does store the ice - I'm sure there will be lots of interest!

CanDo,
I was a little confused by your post. Our basket always remains full since the ice maker constantly produces new ice (it does shut off automatically when full). The ice itself should keep the other ice from melting into the water intake area, although I will admit we keep ours inside so the outside temperature is at least mitigated. However, on very hot days when the we are consuming mutiple sno-cones, we do catch the ice-making capacity of ours.

We just started using our new Wind Chaser ice maker that we bought from CW. So far, we have the exact same experience as Bingo. My guess from everything I have read here, is that it is exactly the same as the Magic Chef model except it has a different label.
This ice maker is a wonderful addition to our lifestyle, we eliminate the use of our upright freezer about 80% of the time (except after a run to Costco) and get rid of the ice container in the refrig/freezer unit. This has given us lots of room in the freezer. We can even store a little extra ice in a zip-lok bag.....!!

Thanks to all your suggestions and advice, we made a trip to Home Depot and low and behold, snatched the last $147.00 model. We're happy campers, today, cause we saw the same one at the RV Dealers this weekend for about 350.00. Thanks

Do the ones at Home Depot for $147.00 have the stainless steel exterior. We are considering another one for the stick house and like the stainless steel model that we got from CW, however, if we can get the same for a savings.......

The Wind Chaser model we got from CW is black. We are so impressed with how well it works. Had relatives over for drinks last night, the ice maker was able to keep up....wow!
