Orv,

I originally posted about the JT stablizers. I, too, highly recommend them. They are light weight, permanently mounted (thus, they don't need to be stored), and they WORK!

We bought a king pin stabilizer when we bought our unit new. Used it for the first couple times and didn't really notice a difference. Since it is heavy, and cumbersome, we never take it along any more.

This is one of those things where each of us has our own opinion based on our own experience and yet opinions are often deeply held.

Not to change or challenge, I'll just say that I'm with mallardjusted. Our tripod is in the garage and we no longer take it along. It made no discernible difference to us.

Of course, one big factor with us is that we are 'travelers', not full-timers.

I use ours every time we set up. We are only weekend and vacation campers so space is not a big issue for us and we like to be as comfortable as we can be. It only takes 2-3 minutes to set up most of the time.

I find a kingpin stabilizer does help. It does not eliminate movement by itself. But when added to other measures it does help. I only deploy the kingpin stabilizer when we'll be in a place for at least a week, though.

The new aluminums are not that heavy. We just received one for Christmas from our daughter and son-in-law. Neat kids! (Actually they aren't kids but they are neat.)
Happy trails.................
