Toolboxes
I have an F-350 long bed and wondered if any of you use the low profile toolbox for the bed of the truck? If I purchase the standard height box will it hit the 5th wheeler when I make sharp turns? My truck is level and the 5th wheeler sits about 5" above the bed of the truck. Any pros or cons on toolbox sizes and brands.
Thanks, Bruce

Hi Bruce,
I have a F-350 Short box and use a Delta low profile crossover toolbox
I've had no problem with the trailer hitting the tool box
here is a link, I bought the black one it goes my with our truck better
than the alum one.

Page down to the white one model WG 665-3. We have a long bed and this Weather Guard box fits just to the top of the rails. Very strong, locks, has trays you can buy. Used by a lot of construction people. The white goes nice with our truck.
Happy trails........................

Got the diamond aluminum low profile box on my longbed F250. It rises about an 1-1/2" above the rail which is the thickness of the lid. Works well without interference.

We have an F350 long bed and use a Truk Trunk. It sits on top the rails and the lid slides across instead of lifting. We have used it for 12 years and love it.

We use the Highway Products low-profile box. I didn't want to underestimate my storage needs and it is the largest box I was able to find. We have been happy with it so far.

This is what the Truck Trunk looks like with the v-box. Has a lot of storage space. You can get into both with the 5ver hitched.

Most people who install a tool box in their 3/4 ton TV just make their truck more overloaded. Not your case with the 1 ton.
However, I have heard several friends say they were disappointed after installing a high profile toolbox - they could no longer see the hitch in the rear view mirror as the taller box obstructed their view. The problem is worse on extended and crew cab trucks. It you like to see what's going on as you hitch up, check out the situation before you buy and install.

The top toolbox in the web site is the one I have in my F-350 crew cab; it has also been in my two prior trucks with no problems.

Well we have the fold a cover so a box must fit under the rails and our last TV had a cap on it the point being that the box could not be seen and was for orderly storage only. That being the case we just use one of those heavy duty vinyl boxes that cost maybe 40/50.00 or less. Does the job.

The v-box camping world sells is not the truck trunk. The one from camping world doesn't open fully with one latch, it has 2 different latches. Check it out at: http://www.trucktrunk.com/
Had to finally get my 100th post, only took just short of 3 years, needed a star.
