Furnace not Ignighting

Ok so we just came back from PA furnace was working getting ready for the next trip today I turned on Furnace after opening LP valve and it won’t ignite. I smell propane outside from the blower heat clicking but it never ignited. We have a new 2018 Montana 3121RL and I need to get the furnace working for our next trip.

Has anyone seen or had this happen, is there anything I can do to fix it, I have 7 days to fix it before next trip will be cancelled for lack of furnace working?

Any tips or advice would be appreciated

Did you open the outside access panel and hit the "on-Off" reset switch? Are you sure you have propane, i.e., will your stove light etc.?

This may sound a bit crazy but it worked for me after someone suggested it on these forums. I closed both propane tanks and unhooked them. I then hooked them back up and very very very slowly turned them on. My furnace would then ignite. Have no idea why it worked, but it did for me. Good luck.

The furnace worked after disconnecting and reconnecting the cylinders because the valves were opened too fast and set the excess flow restrictor valves inside the plastic nuts at the ends of the pigtails. You will still get gas flow, enough for the stove and water heater to work but not the furnace. Whenever you install a filled cylinder, open the valve very slowly and you not have any problem.

We have a 2019 3121RL and had same problem. Blower would come on for 30 to 60 seconds and then shut off. Furnace never ignited. Found out it was the sail switch. Dealer took it out, bent the metal flap a bit and put it back in. Worked for 24 hrs, then wouldn’t ignite again. Went out myself and bent the flap a bit more and it’s been working so far (48 hrs). Dealer said when blower comes on, it pushes air against the sail switch, opening up the propane and allowing it to ignite. Hope this helps.

Turns out the igniter tip had frozen as soon as we warmed it up the furnace fired right up.

Odd enough I disconnected the LP tanks and lines and used my BBQ 20# tank and that didn’t work, so we learned a good lesson, open the outside compartment for the furnace and make sure there is no condensation after using it by when the furnace turns off then it gets cold water that is in the Furnace will freeze.

Appreciate all the help hopefully all the tips will help others here as it is meant to do.

Just asking because as I read this thread, mine was doing the same thing. My tech had a long talk with Atwood, they are aware of this happening, Atwood sent a sail switch and a high temp shut-off switch. Both installed and now we heat, I hope. These parts as well as the recall on this model, only time will tell.

My tech found it interesting that both furnaces developed the same problem, same symptoms.

According to a tech at CW, one we use and trust for warranty work, there seems to be a lot of furnaces freezing up below 30 degrees, they are swing a lot of it with all diff types of Furnaces, also LP lines develop ice and won’t send LP u til they are warmed up
