Cold Weather Camping

We don't routinely camp when it is cold, but when we do....

Of course these are from 1992, in a previous rig. We are not quite as adventuresome these days! 2nd photo is our tow vehicle!

We just camped over the holiday weekend (wed-sun). We were in harpers ferry WV. It was quite cold (low 20,s at night). When we camp, most of the time we are outside. We see no point in going camping to spend the majority of time in the camper(Might as well stay home). With that being said, we were with a small group of friends and we set up a 10x20 (enclosed) shelter and had a kerosene heater blowing into it most of the time. It stayed around 65 degrees in there. When we were not in it we were around the roaring hot fire. We burned at least a cord of wood and 30+ gallons of kerosene to keep warm.

If I'm not mistaken, the 'certification' or 'Tested' to zero degrees simply means that the cabin area was able to maintain 65 to 70 degrees at zero degrees. Nothing on the tanks/water lines is listed. I did just do a Google search and found a couple of references to the new Montana coaches, with the 4 season tag, that showed, in testing, that the tanks stayed close to 45 degrees. Nothing on the older coaches though.
