I just read that batteries should be kept at 60 to 80 degrees to avoid loss. What is the common practice (other than ignoring it) ?

Some people bring them in for the winter, others run at least a 110 line to the rig to keep them charged, but if you check the net you'll find that a fully charged battery will not freeze so it is ok (if fully charged) to just leave it in the rig. That said you need to disconnect it by pulling the cables because otherwise the phantom loads will kill it very quickly even if the battery disconnect is on.

Simple answer: Do you heat the battery in your car or truck?? Diesels in colder climates generally come with a "Block Heater", but nothing for the batteries.
