Proud new owner of a 2019 3820FK!

Hi all,

My wife and I bought a new 3820 and took it on its maiden voyage this week, and what an adventure it was. We're not experienced RVers, so the learning curve was steep. Everything from figuring out exactly why you need a 50 amp, versus a 30 amp service to how good the starter kit crapper hose really is...

I'm gonna be begging for help regularly, so I hope this is a "no judgement zone"!

Vr,
Scott & Ginger

Welcome. We do not judge. Heckle maybe but no judging. I hope you know I am kidding.

We were all new to camping once. Some can almost remember when that was.

Congratulations! I think my wife was instrumental in getting that model put in production, she brought it up at a rally and many others agreed that front kitchens were nice

Thanks all, for the welcomes and well wishes... As I said our maiden voyage was an adventure. To make it truly memorable, however, our cable company wired up a new neighbor and strung the cables lower that 13' 6" and upon return, I cleaned my HDTV antenna off the top. Brand new 5th wheel... Damn it...

Anyway, I got on the roof to repair it and found a textured roofing, I think they call Alpha Roofing. Is anyone familiar with this? Its textured, and all of the "appliances" have large (2" wide) mounds of sealant to close out penetrations. Since I have to replace the antenna, I thought I"d ask a few experts what the best sealant is to repair and replace on this type of roof.

So, let me have it?

1st of all congrats on the new unit and welcome to this forum!!

For the questions on the roof repairs and any other issues you might have, may I suggest you starting another thread in the other locations of this forum for those issues, as you will get so many more replies and help. Post them in the Repairs/Maintenance section or the General section.

First of all Congrats on the new RV. We love ours. The wife really likes the kitchen up top. We sacrificed a little outdoor storage but I have done a couple of easy mods to help out. Enjoy it.

Welcome to the forum and your new rig. I know you will find the Monty and RVing very rewarding. We seriously considered the FK but finally settled on the front living room. DW's choice and I loved them both.

I've been here for nearly a year and I find and I think you will too that there is a wealth of knowledge available to you here. I may not always agree with some of the opinions, but I always respect them and always listen to them because I always learn something from them.

BTW, have you considered letting the dealer fix the antenna and billing the cable co.?

Congrats on buying a new 3820FK . We have had our 2017 3820FK for 2 seasons now and we love it. Of course I have to clean the front window "every time" we get to a new RV park, because DW does not want to eat dinner with bug splats on the window! We will be selling ours after our next trip, and will be trying out a new 2019 Montana 3931FB. This forum makes it worth deciding to buy or not buy similar rated 5th wheels. You will need all kinds of help along the way. Have fun, but know you will need to fix things!

Also a 3820FK traveler

Welcome, we got our 3820FK last year and have several journeys with it. My wife loves that huge kitchen, we plan to winter over with it this year as snow birds in the south. That's when it will truly get the field test. Enjoy your 5'er maybe will see you out on a venture so we can compare notes.
