How difficult to install 2nd air conditioner?

Hello...me again...our fifth wheel needs a second a/c...the one up front just doesn't keep it cool enough...our question is:
How difficult is the installation of the second a/c (in bedroom)?
My husband is a master carpenter and retired general contractor. He is very handy and would like to try to install it himself as Camping World is all booked up and can't do another a/c install until they get some that are on back-order. Also...has anyone had any experience with the Carrier 13,500 air conditioner? Thanks again. Nell

Nell, hubby could do with no problem at all. Plug in wiring harness, the only thing is that you need 120 volts to the area, some are pre-wired, some not. You should list the unit you have for us to have more info.
I had a neighbor with a Bobcat loader raise it onto my roof and on a cardboard, I moved it over and mounted it myself.
The vent that is there has to be removed, housing and all, just have the roofing sealer with you and you will be good to go.
Order the bottom cowling as well as just the A/C unit.
Good luck.

Nell - It should be no problem at all. I installed out penguin 13.500. I had a extention ladder and leaned that against the front cap, Of course use some padding under the ladder so as not to scratch anything, you can lay the AC unit on the ladder and slide it up on top.. As OZZ stated, remove your vent, clean the area of old caulk and install your unit. It took me about 2 hours and that was because I am not a fast install person. NOW if you want to wait until next MAY 2008 you could show up in Branson to our Get Togeather and we would help your husband install the unit.. safe travels John

Hopefully the roof was reinforced when built other wise it might not strong enough.
