sewer leakage

How come the sewer value never closes tight enough to prevent leakage? Brand new rig and the sewer value leaks a bit so now what? Is there a cheap and easy method for fixing this problem or is it best to purchase a new value assembly?

The factory installed cable pull valves are not the best system available. A leakage could simply be crud stuck in the valve seal or valves that just can't operate efficiently. I removed the cable system and installed valves that operate by straight solid rods.

Larry,

If you haven't done so add this to where the sewer hose connects to your rig. https://www.amazon.com/Valterra-T58-...s%2C240&sr=8-2

Agree with Montana Man - you may have something stuck in your black tank valve.

On a new rig this should be a warranty issue and could possibly be manufacturing debris stuck in the valve opening. Some folks have even found the round cutouts for the toilet left in the tank.

Are you sure the valve is leaking. Sometimes it's just water that doesn't make it all the way to the discharge hose after shutting the valve. Most apparent after moving from one campsite to the next. Your travels change the slope of your pipes many times. The solution AZ Traveler posted has worked for many of us.

I also added this valve to my rig, so now no more surprises when i remove the cap.

Have to agree with Zack (AZ Traveler) and the rest of the responders about adding the Valterra Valve to the exit line. I've done it on both of our Monte's and have had not problems with any "possible" leaks from the any of the tanks. It is definitely good insurance and not having a surprise when you open that drain cap.
