12 volt elect problems

Some of you electrical guru's pipe up please. When I turn the park 50 amp power off I lose all electric in camper. No lights or anything. I should rephrase that as my slide out for bedroom and living room which are electric motor driven work. The dining and kitchen are elect./hydraulic and they won't work. Level up will not work on battery either. As soon as power at pedestal is turned on all is well again. Problem seemed to start after checking battery fluid. I turned the disconnect in the battery compartment off. After that I had problems. Maybe there lies the problem. I will check with my volt meter tomorrow. The camper is a 2018 3791RD. Thanks for any help you can be.

Seems silly to ask, but did you turn the battery disconnect back on. Certain things still get power when the switch is off, but most things don't.

Oh yes , I turn it on and off and on and off and on.

Go in the battery compartment and make sure every 12v connection is tight.

Times two to all above. Especially check all connections. I would take a wire brush to each connection and move the wires around then tighten

Seems to coincidental that it started after you used the battery disconnect switch. I'd try to jumper that switch. Just because you turned it back to the proper position doesn't mean it made the switch.

Might be a bad battery also. I thinking switch also but a easy check is to load test the battery.

Everyone that owns an RV should have a volt meter and possibly a battery load test meter. They are inexpensive and critically important to troubleshooting electrical issues

If there is one class I would recommend be conducted at rallies it would be how to use these two tools!!

I jumped that switch and it did not help. I used my volt meter and I have 12.75 volts in and out of it. I went into the circuit breaker/fuse box and I do not have any 12 volt power coming into it when the converter is not running.
Where is the converter located? There must be a junction box or some kind of connection at it. I cannot follow the Red 12 volt hot wire as it goes through the Bat. compartment firewall. I see it coming into the fuse box but can't see where it comes from. There must be a junction in there somewhere.
Getting this thing into a camping world is not feasable as we are full time and live in it. I do know of a reliable RV repair place but I will have to wait till we get back to MN and we are at Niagara Falls now. If I don't cook the converter I will be ok.

Most converters are silver boxes mounted behind the wall in the basement.

Make sure you have power across the keyed switch in the water hookup compartment

As others mentioned the converter is typically a silver box mounted behind the breaker panel. If you remove rear wall of the pass thru storage you can easily access the converter and rear of breaker panel. Depending on your setup, the converter will plug into the back of breaker panel and be on a 20amp breaker. The hot wire will run up to the breaker box and then another wire will lead off that too the battery. It is that wire and your ground wire you want to check.

Might try turning off the converter and seeing if you still have power at breaker box. Then trace back to where you do have power. Also be sure to check your grounds at battery leads and at the breaker box

I can't say what year it started but our previous 2012 3585SA and current 2018 3791RD had/has the converter mounted in the main breaker/fuse box on the right side. Our 2008 3400RL did have it mounted under the steps.

I have a 2012 3625RE that had the same problem this summer, it was the 50 amp sealed breaker mounted on the wall behind the battery

That's what I was going to say & if it's the problem I'd replace with manual reset buss 80amp breaker.

Since you have 12 v in and out of the battery disconnect and not in the distribution panel check the lead where it enters the converter and check the input fuze to the converter. Someone earlier said it would be a #12 red wire and 20a fuze, I would suggest a #10 and a 30a fuze. I am not experienced with this exact application but from years of similar experience it should be 30a fuze and red wire.

Last year I had the same problem, and checked all the wiring. Everything seemed fine, but When I checked the second time around I was able to move the ground that was screwed to the propane compartment wall. This was the problem, it was slightly loose and nothing on the 12v system was working. I removed the screw and replaced with a bolt and haven't had a problem since. H

I have the same camper and the same problem. changed the 50 amp relay behind the battery, everything 12 volt worked. when I tried the kitchen slid out the solenoid for the hydrolic system stayed on when I disconnected the 12 volt wire to it, I burnt my fingers. I believe this was the problem with the relay. I have checked all the wiring to the battery to make sure it is charging.
the batteries go dead after sitting for a day????

Ok so I have invested in a Used 2005 Keystone montana. I am replacing most of the large appliances. I am having an issue with a good amount of the 12v wiring. All of the 12v lights in the dinning/Living room slide out, the 12v lights(wall scounces)in main area do not seem to be getting voltage. All circuits are hot coming from main fuse block. I am needing to find direction to run down open in circuit.
