New 3150RL owner

Hello everyone! My wife and I recently purchased a 2011 Montana 3150RL. We are not new to rving but this is our first fifth wheel. Hoping to learn more about this rig from the MOC.

Congrats on your new Montana. If this is your first fifth wheel, I hope you have an easy learning curve, at least easier than I experienced. I was a travel trailer owner / user all my life. At 63 years old, we got our first fifth wheel, and it took me 6 months to finally feel somewhat confident backing it into a campsite or the driveway. When I finally had the "Ah Ha!" moment, it clicked and now, it's no problem at all. I also had problems reaching into the bed of the truck to even reach the fifth wheel hitch release, trying to reach over fat fenders in a dualy. I never had to deal with any of that towing a trailer. (and there were more).

There are some differences and some mind-set adjustments you have to recon with when you get a fifth wheel the first time. (At least for me) ... all the hoopla-and-hollar how easy it was going from trailer to fifth wheel was simply not true. Now.... after almost 3 years, it's no problem any more. I can honestly say it's different, but I cannot not say "it's better" than a trailer. They are just different in their own ways and each serves a different purpose.

Enjoy that new Montana. Welcome to these forums. Hope your transition to fifth wheel is smooth and problem free, and you are among family here (being all Montana owners). Welcome!

Welcome. Hopefully the fiver works well for your needs. I'm happy with a smaller trailer but the DW wanted to go big.

Welcome

Welcome to the forum and I'm sure you will find the people here friendly and very helpful. Enjoy your new 5ver!

I've pulled both TT's and 5ver's and I truly enjoy the difference and ease with which we can pull and park the 5th wheel unit. We recent purchased a new Montana 3121RL and other than keeping the shades working love the unit! We have the residential frig, solar panels on top, the king bed and love all the storage. We previously had a Heartland Greystone 29MK, but it just got old on us as do we all!

Anyhow, enjoy your new rig and be safe out there!!

Welcome - ours is a 2013 3150RL and we love it. Lots of great info on this site but start with the wheels and tires for safety - you need a G rated tire on the rig and trust me I learned the hard way! Next on my list were disks brakes - probably the best upgrade I have made.

Enjoy the club!!

We have a 2012 3150RL and have always been happy with it. Big enough to have plenty of room, small enough to go anywhere we want and easy to navigate and back up.

Welcome! We just bought our first fifth wheel in March, definitely a learning curve on backing stone it pivots differently, but getting better at it. Cheers
