I was just saying if I reorganize the trailer I am within limits. The only thing on GVVR being meaningful (from what I can glean) is it is for braking or the frame. And since a 2500 and 3500 have (had?) the same frame, that is ruled out. And brakes were the same too. So what you have left is a spring leaf. So does that mean I just bottom out on bumps??? Not sure why it matters.

295RL
No issues towing our 2021 Montana High Country 295RL with our 2015 2500 Hemi Ram rated to tow 12,850 with a payload capacity of 3130. Running with the Pullrite 2600 single point mount turnover ball hitch. Love the fact that hitch only weighs 60 lbs & easy to remove from bed when needed. Empty 11.300 with a pin weight of 2300.

When you tow this trailer does it weigh 11,300 lbs? Since that's the weight when it left the assembly floor then no. Are you ever going to put anything in it? Loaded weight for your trailer is over 14,000 lbs. That's the number you should use when calc-ing tow ratings. 23% of GVWR is closer to 3000 lbs. Are you carrying anything in your truck? Other people? Gear? You can go to the scales to verify actual weights you're towing but you are likely over your truck's payload.

Did all the math already .batteries, propane ,fuel ,dog me & wife . As far as 14,000 lbs . Not gonna happen. Maybe 12,500 for extended stay as we travel light & don't carry water in our tanks as we don't boondock. We're at the top of our #s but doable with the Hemi Ram. Same truck with diesel engine looses 800 to 1000 payload capacity.

Good to hear...just trying to keep a consistent message for which numbers matter when matching RV to TV.

Curious. How does this combo do pulling long steep grades?

Not many long steep grades here in the Texas Hill country or the Texas/ Louisiana Gulf coast. This is where it will be used 95% of the time. For the other 5% we may venture into Colorado/ New Mexico . Hemi will be fine . 400 ft / lbs torque / 410 HP should be able to tow 12,500 K all day long with zero issues. Went with the 6.4 Hemi for the extra 1k payload capacity & couldn't justify the 10k upfront cost of a diesel engine & expence of required maintenance for where we tow 95% of the time . Here diesel fuel runs .40 cents a gallon more the Unleaded fuel.

I owned a 2020 2500HD and purchased a 295RL and when I weighed in the truck was already 480lbs overweight. Bought a 2021 3500HD dually and when I pull the camper it fells like I'm driving a SUV. ☺️
