When the furnace is on in the winter why does the air conditioning unit run?

Temperature is 8 degrees out side. Furnace is running on propane and the rear air conditioner is running and blowing cold air. Thermostat is set to 65 and heat. What’s going on?

Set your thermostat to auto.

If the fan speed is set on anything but auto then the fan in the AC will run at whatever speed is set.

The A/C compressor will not be running, just the fan.
