How many race fans can the roof hold?

As I watched the race at Pocono today I wondered about the practice of using the RV roof as a platform for viewing the race. Many fans in the infield are up on their roofs with folding chairs and coolers. Just how safe is that?

A roof is exactly that, a roof. I don't like going up on mine even to just wash it. I think the more you can keep of it the better it is. The last thing you would want is water coming in the roof from damage done by going up on it.
just my opinion.

We see these roof parties at the Jimmy Buffett tailgate parties all the time. I've always wondered if the people up there own the RV or rented or borrowed. There is one toy hauler (can;t remember brand) that has a "patio" on the roof. Steps inside to get to the roof. I'm assuming it is reinforced.
Happy trails................................

Bill,
What a great race. The 11 car was really dominant even after spinning out. What great teamwork by his pit crew. Glad you got to see it live.

I will not now or in the future let anyone sit on my roof to watch anything, it don't take much to put a tear in it and then you have got a leak. This was discussed one time before, the risk is just too great... Good luck on what ever you decide to do.

I'm with PrairiePoodle ont his one. Our roofs are not meant to take excited race fans jumping up and down, nor the wight of a150-2-- pound person sitting on four less tha one inch diameter rods, or an ice chest weighing X number of pounds. A roof is a roof is a roof!
Just my opinion

Thanks. I've always thought those folks were asking for trouble.

I should have said, "as I watched the race at Pocono on my television at home..." It was a great race and the comeback of the 11 car was fantastic work by all involved, but I wasn't there...

Roof partying ain't my cup-o-tea either. Seems a bit risky to the investment and to the persons who might back off it.

I believe there are some high dollar motor homes that are designed for that. Your average RV certainly isn't.

I imagine that some folks think that's what the ladder is for and never give it a second thought that they may do serious damage. Others probably don't care, if it belongs to someone else.

Good lesson here. Don't loan your RV to those crazed NASCAR fans. LOL.

I believe that the manual states no more than 150lbs can be stored on the roof while trailer is in motion, No storage pods there. So I whould assume that maybe one person at a time, and for maintenance reasons only. I do know that some RV manufactures use that as a selling point and display the RV with a car sitting on the roof which I have seen at the last RV Show, I personally would not go up because, (1) I dont want any traffic on my rubber roof, and the thought of an accidental fall scares the dickens out of me, no hand rails, and a dommed roof not a safe platform.
