Lots of Montanas!

We just spent a great weekend at a new RV park and couldn't believe all the Keystone products present. From the entry level rig to the big ones like ours. We talked to a few of the folks and everyone we talked to were real happy with Keystone and their rigs. I was really surprised to find 2 3400rls that still had the remote thermostats and they had no problems with the unit and were very happy with their 5th wheels. Told everyone about the forum so maybe we'll have new members. I just love to talk to other HAPPY CAMPERS!

Bill, that is great news.

We ran 370 miles today, north on 57 in Illinois, 70 east in Ill and Indiana, to Indianapolis and then 69 north to Ft Wayne.

Saw: over 30 Jay Feathers being towed by haulers. Several other kinds of rigs, 5ers and TTs, some I did not recognize the names, about 5 units that appeared to be FEMA type trailers, also being pulled by haulers, and one Montana, Mountaineer Edition a 5er.

What was surprising is that we did not see ONE, not ONE, Montana on the road, not even a new one being pulled by a hauler.

Where did all the Montana's go???

Carol,
They are all over here on the west coast. =) I passed 5 last weekend on the road while towing my coach down to the river. I gave the ol' flash of the headlights and got nothing back. I wonder who it could have been? 3 of them were '06 models with the new decals and front mirror caps. Maybe we will have some new members soon...

I have said before that Montana's are a seldom seen sight in this part of the country. I only know of one other in the area and it belongs to a friend of ours who we recommended get one. Have never seen one in any of the C.G's that our camping group uses. Cougers and Springdales everywhere. This being a blue collar area has a lot to do with it.The Montana is to high end for most folks around here.

There is another here in this park in Cannonville, UT. And we had the pleasure, in Moab, UT, of meeting MOC member Jimc. Very nice folks.

We saw a bunch during our trip from the Rio Grande Valley to Utah.

I dont know what Keystone pays to have their new rigs towed to dealers, but some manufactures only pay 91 to 92 cents a loaded mile to the drivers, so maybe a lot of the big rigs are setting in the yards. With diesel at an average of $2.75 a gallon a lot of drivers may have dropped out of the hauling business. That may be why you did not see many Montanas.

We saw at least one every day that we were on the road between Missouri and Here, and there are us, a mountaineer, and a 3400 sitting at this KOA... (and those are just the seasonals that were here over the winter)

We usually see at least ONE Montana in every campground we visit, some of the larger campgrounds we find 5 to 15 Montanas. However, that day, the haulers were not pulling any down the highways. Maybe they are airlifting them to dealers these days, ??? HA HA

And, if we are not seeing Montanas we are meeting MOC people. One showed up at our door the other night, here in Ft Wayne. They were visiting the camp hosts here, and asked "Who is in that Montana down there?" WHen they heard that there were 4 yorks in that Montana, we were Identified! HAHA

We are at Gulf Shores, AL this week and there are at least 6 or 7 Montana's in this park. Rode through three or four other parks in the area and saw from 2 to 5 in each of them. However, when driving between Phoenix, AZ and Riverside, CA back in Jan we saw many more Montana's than in the East.

We had a brand new 3400RK pull into the site next to us here in central Oregon. Turns out they are MOC members, craigdesk@charter.net. We enjoyed very much visiting with them, and found out they live very close to Nehalem Bay State Park, where we will be camp hosting for the month of May. You do meet some nice people in Montanas.

I think you may have meant a 3000RK, Bob? Or else a 3295 or 3650?

Or maybe a 3400RL?

You're right Dave. It was a 3000RK. You'd think I would get it right since we have one too. Another senior moment.
