Heart Attack

My plans have been put on hold for a little while.

Wednesday morning I had a "small" heart attack and had to have angioplasty with a stint placed in one artery that was narrow.

The Doctor says I should make a good recovery but it will take some rehab to get my strength back.

Happy camping to all my Montana friends. I'll get back on the road as soon as I can.

God bless you all.

Been there, done that. Follow the Doctor's orders, take your meds, follow the diet and you will be back rearing to go. And relax. Stress is a big part of this heart thing. I'm feeling stronger every day and it has been just a little under a month.
Happy trails...................

God Bless and heal well Danny. Do as the doc sez and you'll feel great. Ed kep up the good work and both keep your spirits up. Had a 4 way bypass in june after a heart attack in Reno in May and am feeling great!!! Do the exercises, do the diet, and like Ed says relax

Danny, so sorry to hear about your heart attack. I just got Paul out of the hospital today from the stroke he had Feb. 18th. Like everyone said, do what the doc tells you and take your meds. NO STRESSING, NO STRESSING!

Danny, As Parrothead said "Been there done that." I had three different episodes. The first two were in 1989 and as time went on, I thought I was out of the woods. Then in 1992 it happened again and was pretty severe - but I was fortunate because I went to the hospital early and I had no damage. None of mine had stents as that was still rather experimental at that time.

Well, as others have said, I think stress was the major factor for me. I took early retirement and made major dietary changes - following Dr. Dean Ornish and John McDougal's recommendations. I went to group sessions at a local hospital for learning and support. I re-evaluated what (and whom) is important in life.

I ended up going back to work for about 9 years - but I had a very different outlook. I have had NO symptoms for the past 14 years, but I am always drawn to any news about the heart, and am thankful for each day.

I write this just to let you know that MANY people DO care and DO understand the trauma it causes to you and those who love you. Lean on them if you need to - and my prayer for you is that you will GAIN from this experience at least as much as I have.

May God bless you and yours.
Russ
