We're sitting here in the S&B and watching the rain come down. We're have been luck SO FAR and the bad stuff has gone around us. The car dealers in Blair, NE, about 20 miles north of Omaha, have lost nearly all their cars to hail. They had softball size hail up there. On of the big creeks here, the Big Papio, is running back full with logs and debri coming down it heavy. It normally run about 20-25' below what it is now. We're under a tornado watch until after midnight and a flash flood warning till tomorrow morning. We have cars standed on the streets here in Omaha with water up to the window in area all across Omaha. The S&B is on the highest hill in the city and if it gets this high we have already started to build the ark just incase. Never a dull moment here in the Omaha area as many of you know when we hold our CPRR. I'll keep everyone informed as the night progresses! Thanks for the concern!

Hmmm... have a couple of relatives driving from Chicago to Omaha tomorrow, and then the next day to Salt Lake City and then to California. I better get a hold of them and make sure they know of the weather. Thanks for the heads up!

By tomorrow the storms should be all blown by. If they are coming via I-80 they should be good to go. It looks like the storms are heading southeast from here!
Just watching the local tv channel and the fire department and the police are launching rubber rafts to rescue some of the residence in areas of Omaha that are flooding or being surrounded by water and it's still raining and hard! So far we've had 4 1/2 to 5" so far and it just keeps coming down! Time to launch the ark!
IF your relatives need any help tell them to let us know!

Reporting in from Fort Calhoun Nebraska, just a country mile south of Blair Ne. About 430 pm we had a hail storm with baseball size hail, high winds and rain. We will need a new roof on the house for the third year in a row. Also my metal shed in back. The RV also took a hit. Both a/c covers will need to be replaced and the skylight will need replacement. Now it's raining in the shower. Not sure how to protect it from the rain till I can get up there to cover it.
Thanks for insurance.
Oh, no damage to my vehicles, the neighbors had car windows and house windows broke. My neighbor parked his sports car in my shed...glad I made room for it.

WOW Warren I guess we got lucky here in Omaha compared to what you guys got in Fort Calhoun and Blair. The shots of the damage from Blair and other locations close are unbelievable. We're getting the heavy rain(5"+ so far) and some small hail here at our S&B but I guess we've been lucky as I stated so far.
Sent you a PM also.

Thanks Rondo. Yes, they will be sticking to I-80 and they are waiting until tomorrow morning to decide whether to make a run for it or not out of Chicago to Omaha. This weather is c-r-a-z-y.

I was in constant contact with our son yesterday who lives in Council Bluffs IA giving him updates because his power went out. He had no damage but tons of rain and very high winds.

Glad you guys in Nebraska are safe. We were watching it on the WC until we went to bed late (camped in CA). Then when we got up we turned WC back on to see what happened in Illinois where the same storm front was heading. Our family/friends didn't get any damage there.

My relatives left Chicago by car this morning and have decided to drive through to Denver. They are about 3 hours east of Denver now and have only experienced some overcast skies.
Edit: Severe lightening experienced the last 2 hours before Denver. No rain, no thunder.
