Heat Wave

Man, we're having a heat wave for sure 48 degrees. Set a record today. All (not quite all) our snow is melting and all of Anchorage will be a giant ice rink tomorrow. As much as I have grown to dislike the hard winters, I am not ready for a series of thaw-freeze temps. Makes it very difficult to move around. I could barely walk to my mailbox today (70') for all the ice......

I know ya'll gonna hate to hear this.....pulled out the mower this morning and cut grass. Just the start of a March-November ritual here. Bet the full-timers really get a good laugh out of this.

Well if it makes you feel better last week was the melting of our snow and boy oh boy our front yard was a pond and in the back rear of our yard the creek was coming out of its bank! Now this weekend we are to be around 54 degrees...

Nine degrees here and four inches of snow. We won't see grass until May.

Cheryl & I are heading to the Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota on the gulf coast on Fri. It will be in the 80s and sunny. Cheryl is going for the sun, I am going for the science. The sand on this beach is 99% quartz. It stays cool on the feet in the hot sun. Weird...

We have seen grass in Apache Junction. In Ohio on the golf courses we have a lot of grass and a few sand traps here there is a little grass and a lot of sand traps (desert)
